I'm not sure he will have money to spend, not without selling first or us winning the league and/or champions league.

Absolutely, my old man thought Shankley was an absolute C dot dot dot.

"Win at any cost" he used to say about him.

Strange though, he's warmed more to Liverpool (and Shankley) in later years. Probably because he's out numbered by us over here  :D

Mind you, though, he doesn't get to to see much football these days bar CL stuff, so I'd say a lot of the interest has gone. He despised the big money/Sky monopolisation of English football and I think it kind of killed it for him to a large extent.

well there will be the same sort of money available as in the last couple of seasons i expect - upwards of around 30 mil due to the cl money and telly money .

Unless the club gets bought it is very unlikely that there will be any dollar to buy anyone. The loan taken out by the Yanks was with RBS and is due to be paid back this summer to the tune of £350m! We are left in limbo at the moment and this must have affected Rafa's refusal to sign a new contract. The club could be seriously in the shat with those fools who've invested none of their own money and are wanting a ridiculous gain when supposed 'suitors' come a courting. I think the truth is that Rafa's hands are tied and the Yanks bought, like many others recently, when they thought things were going only one way-up. It is just a shame that the club has become a commodity to be shuffled around various financial institutions. The next few months are perhaps the most important in the history of our great football club, unfortunately this will be taking place off the pitch! Being aware of these facts and knowing the likes of Madrid were interested in me, if I were Rafa I wouldn't sign a new contract either.

And they could just as easily get the loan extended or re finance the exsisting loan .

They could that is true and if no buyers come along lets hope so. They could also invest some of their own wealth, which would be novel. We'll just have to wait and see but, failure to repay that loan would see us owned by RBS whose majority shareholder (40% I think) is our own government! We may have old Gordon at the top pulling the strings.

you slate the owmers for borrowing money and now you hoping they borrow more, we can have money in the summer, rafa can offload some of the sh@te that we have and hope we get back more than half of what we paid for them.

as for being the best in europe, we were only 5th best in our league so how do you work that one out?
