My indictment of the rafa benitez regime

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

The Kop icon told LFC Magazine: "To be fair to Rafa Benitez, in the face of yet more ridiculous nonsense, I think the formation he chose to play at Fratton Park was excellent.

Remove Dalglish from any future poll,  we need a manager whose decissions are understood by fans and fúckwits that studied an easy career of journalism.

Bonkers? indeed it's bonkers all this.

what do you mean nope ? are my sums wrong ? they are two points ahead with a game in hand - win that then its 5 . So we win all our remaining games (which includes beating them ) we then need them to slip up once and that will put us one point ahead .

they need to lose twice therefore they need to slip up twice, the point is that its  not in our hands anymore, they need to lose twice and we need to win all our remaining games, if we beat them then they need to lose once more. when i went to school 1 + 1 = 2

yet my statement wasnt incorrect as us beating them would include them loosing - so when i said if we win all our games they need to slip up once .

actually i think he's correrct peewee.

if we beat the mancs, the we go 1 point in front. if they then lose their game in hand, we will still be 1 point in front.

therefore, if we beat them, they only need to lose 1 game more

GYBS wrote:I remember during those years in the 80s when the mancs where ploding along winning the odd cup here and there spending more money that most clubs constantly changing the manager every club of years then the new manager would change players spend more money etc etc . Then in 86 they got Taggert - after 6 months Bobby Charlton wanted him sacked but the board said no - 4 years later after doing nothing of any significant they wanted him sacked again but a certainly Lee Martin saved his bacon by scoring the winner in the FA cup final . So they stuck with him still despite being nowhere in the league. The following season during the summer they backed him very well in the transfer market and then lo and behold they challenged for the title finally and only fell at the last hurdle to leeds . The next season he tweaked the team a little - adding a few more players and then looked what happened they won the title at least . Also during those early years he went mad looking for youngsters to improve his youth policy . Over the next 10 to 18 years those youngesters came through and through success and sticking and backing with everything he wanted with a manager the scum just grew . Now i am in now way saying that Rafa is like taggert and no way saying he will be as successful as him BUT he has improved us - he has taken us on a level - the one main problem he has had to face is while we improve so do the others - Yes arsenal and chelsea seem to be treading water this year but the Mancs have improved namely at the back and have added a 30 million pound striker to the team . It was always going to be hard for Rafa or any other manager to overhaul the mancs, chelsea and arsenal all in one go and was going to take time . At the moment it seems we are a bit better than Chelsea and Arsenal (if thats cause they got worse oh well - its still the same players namely as last couple of years) its just that final step now of overhauling the mancs . It may or may not happen this year (i Hope it does ) but IMO if we keep going then we will overhaul them (not every year) and we will win titles and be up there with them fighting it out . For me that means giving our current manager more time and backing from the owners and fans . I cant see him takiing us backwards in any way - we are up there now and we wont fall down . Yes rafa has made mistakes - every bloody manager has - even the greats . Rafa has done things and made us think WTF - but Rafa has made us competitive . As i have said to saint in a pm when we were chatting about this - This next summer is the crucial one - how he is backed by the owners and how he spends that backing and what players he brings in and if any of the youngesters he has bought can be brought through to the first team . Anyway end of my novel .

Summary- lets give Rafa a bit more time - let him see if his youngsters he has bought can come through and lets see if he can get the final bits to his jigsaw and see if that jigsaw can win us the title .

Good post Gybs

Never thought I would get the chance to say that  :D

no alan, they need to slip up twice mate, one of those slip ups will need to be against us, they could be 5 points ahead, that equates to two games, one slip up needs to be against us or they will need to lose 4 games for us to overtake them winning the rest of our games.

:help   :wwww

you are putting too much on our game, its still a game at the end of the day, its still one of at least two games they need to lose. the main point being its not in our hands anymore

The point both myself and judge was making that IF we WIN all our remaining games (which includes beating the mancs ) then they would only have to slip up once - IE IF WE WIN ALL OUR GAMES (INCLUDINIG BEATING THEM) THEY THEN NEED TO SLIP UP ONCE

league table

if mancs win there game in hand they will be 5 points clear - agreed

therefore if we beat them, we would be 2 points behind them on equal games - agreed

so, if they slip up one more time after us, and we win all our games, we win the league by one point

simple :D

It's just a technicality in the wording lads. You are both right but wording it slightly differently. It doesn't really matter does it...
