I thought it was a silly thread before I turned in, and having read through it it is confirmed. For any manager than anyone can suggest, be he from past or present those who support the manager "through thick and thin" will say the suggestee is too old/too expensive/too balshy/too useless/too much of a w@nker etc etc. All of which is fair enough and understandable because they like Rafa and want to keep him.

Those who think we could improve for a change suggest a name without really knowing how they'd go (who does?) and the whole process starts again. I don't FWIW myself buy into this oft' peddled myth about there being "nobody out there", because there are literally thousands of professional football managers working today, and I would guess that the members of the forum are knowledgeable about possibly 5% of them at a push. It's like saying "there are no decent left-backs out there" when you haven't heard of half of them. That's what many people said in the Summer and then we bought Dossena and nobody had heard of him....Ok probably not the best example but no doubt not many Chelsea fans had heard of Avram Grant until he guided them well ahead of us in the league, into a final game showdown for the title, and within a penalty kick of winning the Champions League having knocked us out along the way. No, there are managers out there I'm certain of that. The question is or will be soon, do you want to change?

I think as I've said earlier that all discussions are academic as Rafa will be given a new contract in the Summer. I don't think we will ever win the title with him at the helm, so IMHO some time further down the track we'll be having the same discussions again.

I think a member of this forum should be Liverpool manager, since most can pick the team, tactics and predict the outcome of results "had this happend and that" !

I would pick Heindmall ... cos that's what you all deserve YEH!!!!

Yes I want the best. I want the one who is best equipped to win us the title sometime in the next five years (assuming that this particular five year plan isn't going to throw up the title).

I don't think there is a manager out there who could "snap his fingers" and win us the title. It always amazes me that we gave Houllier five years or so, Rafa has had five years but if you start to get itchy anythings regarding the manager, anyone you suggest has to be able to "snap their fingers and bring us the title".

I want to get the bloke in though, or a bloke in who I think has a realistic chance to win us the title some time soon. Like I say though, the time to debate that is in  my estimation probably two seasons on fom this one.

and the person that is most likely to do that is someone on the public eye as a manager at the moment or rafa himself

Who is this bloke Mick? :D

Give us names,no point saying ya want Rafa sacked if you cant think of anyone better to replace him!
Everyone keeps saying Jose.personally I think the fact he came and succeeded so quick at Chelsea does not mean it will be the case at LFC.I dont like the man,a lot dont. But saying that after the initial shock of him being appointed manager wore off,I guess it would be a case of he's our manager and we have to support him!

Personally I think MON is an excellent manager and he's proved it.He's done remarkably well at every club he's managed. And its almost looking like its a cert Villa will be a top 3 or 4 team.

Im not saying I want either of these because unlike you I reckon we are not out of it yet,i feel the we will never win the title with Rafa line is premature given the amount of games left.

As for there being thousands of managers out there, yes there are but we are not gonna pluck some genius from Outer Mongolia that no one has heard of.LFC is a massive club, with huge european pedigree!
We need someone with experience at the top level and preferably someone who has won things,European pedigree would be a bonus!
Just think.... if rafa could apply for his own job he'd tick all the boxes, strange that!

Anyway this thread is premature and totally hypothetical, cause I doubt he's going anywhere!

The "public eye" might be the Argentinian Under 19 team though, who may be managed by Ariel Ortega for all I know who maybe the most respected coach in South America. It maybe the Bundesliga where Karl Heinz Ruminge could be doing a stirling job keeping FC Oberamagau out of the relegation struggle in the third division. It could be Serie B, where Franco Baresi might have steered Sicily into the Italian Cup quarter finals against all the odds, or Ghana where a studious Tony Yeboah has steered the Alsass Young boys to their first title in 39 years, narrowly defeating the George Weah's cousin coached Kaiser Chiefs in the final of the African Champions League along the way.

The reality is, none of us have much of a clue outside of England and Spain (and indeed many of us don't even have a clue there to tell the truth). The 'public eye" really depends on where "the public" are.

All my own sh!te Baz, I'm not a nicker of other people's nonsense, no point when you're full of it yourself.

Look as I've said a few times, it's all academic anyway as it appears the yanks will give Rafa a new contract. I personally don't think we should do that.

There is one absolutely outstanding candidate, and we should go get him. Before somebody else does.
