hey guys, my bird was on her computer yesterday and it seems to be infected by a horrible virus. Basically theres loads of shortcuts on her desktop and the computer keeps automatically performing virus scans and warning her the computer's infected. I tried spybot and iit doesnt seem to have worked.

other than that I dont have a clue what to do. can anyone help please?

Tell us how it goes with AVG. Always keep your windows as updated as possible in the site www.windowsupdate.com. If you have windows updated it's even easier to get rid of the virus, because it kind of closes the entrances of many virus, closes vulnerable points of your system.

If you haven't those vulnerable points fixed, it may happen that the antivirus is constantly getting and removing the virus, once and again. If you have those doors closed (windows updated) the antivirus is more able to get the bad guys surrounded.

More or less it works that way :D

The other piece of advice I'd give is do your first virus scan in safe mode (F8 at boot up). This way you can guarantee the virus is not making any internet connections whilst you clean the PC.
