Free kicks

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I can recall Sammy Lee scoring a cracking free kick against Man City around 1981.  I think Alan Kennedy and Kenny Dalglish scored the same day and we won 5-0.  Remarkably, Joe Corrigan (City keeper) would later become our goal keeping coach.

Under Houllier we may as well have just tapped the ball to the keeper to save time but I have been impressed with the variety of free kicks this season that Rafa has clearly implemented. Fancy we will see a few screamers from em this year  :D

Cardiff Red

I also heard Jan Molby was good at hitting his dead balls but it wasn't in any game :kungfu:

Cisse can take free kicks he's the type of striker whe havent had for a while- one which can shoot from far out so he's another deadball option. I'd be happy to re-sign Molby and bring him on for last min free kicks, the guys a legend!

Roberto Carlos used to have a very long run-up too and then he changed it because it was not working (ball hit the wall alot).

I don't think Risse is skillfull enough to take the free kicks. He just blasts it and hopes it goes in. Not really good enough at this level. Kewell should be taking more responsability on free kicks (and corners) on the right side of the field and probably Alonso the others. Who takes the penalties...

Riise was poor today, couldnt be trusted with any free-kicks.

How much could we get for Riise if we put him up for sale ?  We only touched £2m for smurf, and he was probably better than Riise at 'dead ball's'. Who scored more pen's Riise or Smurf ? Who had the better all round Scoring Ratio ? ???

I reckon smurf was the man but we had to put up with a lot of passes goin astray in the meantime. Also being as ugly as Rooney has helped him one bit, gotta be one of the crowd from the Aigburth erd light.  :upside:
