Death of phil easton - Sympathy

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I was sadden to learn of the death of Phil Easton the stadium announcer at Anfield.  I did'nt get to hear the guy very much living in Belfast so I only have knowledge of his work at the ground.  Seem to recall he wound a lot of people up when he forgot to play YNWA about 7 or 8 years ago. Everybody can make a mistake.  It always sad to lose someone connected to the club.

F*ck me. The commentators on the stream I was watching of the Chelsea game were commenting about the fella and how he had the most famous and distinguished voices in English football as an announcer, going on to say how long he'd been doing the job for over 40 years. I'm sure a lot of the long-term local match goers will sorely miss him.

Yes terrible news  :(

R.I.P Phil.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

Big Al - its not George Sephton (who plays the music) but (Radio City's) Phil Easton who would do the half time presentations, penalty shoot out commentaries etc.

I think I can talk for most match going reds when I say his vocals will be sorely missed at half time.

Leon thanks for pointing that out, I would have been blaming poor Phil instead of George Septon.  Sorry Phil

His voice will be very hard to replace... seemed to be part of Anfield. Scouse, but not "scouse scouse" if that makes sense.

Where did he come from?

awful news... i remmber hearing the guys voice in my first match back in the early 90s...made me laugh because i thought he sounded a dead ringer for Ringo Star  :D

sad news, RIP Phil, Anfield won't quite be the same without you.

I cant believe he is gone, one of the only stadium anouncers around that did his job with dignity rather than trying to elevate the croud by pretending to be a boxing announcer!!

He will be missed and impossible to replace. Me and st. Mick always talk about the way he announced names like "Vladimir Smicer" for instance.

RIP an unsung and off the pitch liverpool legend
