Keane completed a deadline-day transfer to Tottenham Hotspur yesterday, but with the likes of David Ngog, Nabil El Zhar and Krisztian Nemeth waiting in the wings, the Reds boss insisted he has enough striking options in his squad.

When asked if the Irishman's departure will leave his squad short of attacking options, Benitez said: "I don't think so, because we have Fernando Torres.

"People have been saying, 'Torres has been injured', but we also have Dirk Kuyt, Ryan Babel, David Ngog in the squad.

"And if we need more options then we also have Krisztian Nemeth, who has been doing very well in the reserve team, and Daniel Pacheco has been playing well too.

"We could also play with Steven Gerrard, Yossi Benayoun or Nabil El Zhar as a second striker, so we have enough quality in the squad. I think we can manage."

I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

We have no strikers our manager is mad the owners are like Bond Villains and we have no money.

Given the option between the two Tone, I'd go for the former. For one thing you'll feel better about the whole thing, and for another there are very few people in the World for whom blubbing does anything for in aesthetic sense.

There is also the danger that in my Mums words, "you'll stay like that" as your face contorts. This may though on reflection be an old wives tale, a cunning ruse to make me shut the feck up :eyebrow

Given the option between the two Tone, I'd go for the former. For one thing you'll feel better about the whole thing, and for another there are very few people in the World for whom blubbing does anything for in aesthetic sense.

For fecks sake...one of those is on loan (with a fractured cheekbone), one couldn't score in a brothel and the other is a replacement for Riera.

I think you're forgetting about a certain ponytailed destroyer Tone, they call him the assassin in his homeland. In the country which he currently plies his trade, he's known as the stealth bomber on account of the way he slips in under the radar, the rustling of his shellsuit bottoms the only giveaway as he barrels into view. Lando, chill mate I'm having a laugh only, not spoiling for a row. Also, read back through the Keane thread and you'll see that in all seriousness I'd fancy Voronin up top in preference to either Kuyt or N'Gog.

I'm not going to get involved in comparing him to Keane because that's just being silly, but he's not a bad player right enough.

A few have mentioned the possibility of bringing him back (once again i would if it was me) but I don't know where we'd stand if he didn't fancy it. I know he's under contract to us and all that but it might turn into a "you can lead a horse to water" situation. There's every chance him and his Mrs will fancy staying in Berlin rather than uprooting for what would surely at best be an understudy role. Besides which Rafa never mentioned him so perhaps he's simply not in the equation anymore.

its when I see things like this when I don't feel bad about losing Keane. Sorry but this goals return is shocking when put against Voronin's

I feel reassured. After all, our main rivals for the league title have similar issues.

They only have Berbatov, Ronaldo, Tevez, and Rooney to cobble together a forward line from. I bet SAF is $hitting himself.

I bet he's regretting letting Frazer Campbell go to Spurs now!! :shifty

Every time Torres gets clattered from here on in, we'll be holding our breath, cos if he is injured our title challenge ends.

That's why I'm already nervous that's there's an International break coming up. Half the time that's where Torres seems to get injured.

Hopefully we'll withdraw him from the Spain squad with a broken fingernail.

I don't think he could come back if we wanted him to Mick (even if he did too), they have changed the rules now about recalls from loan. Not sure what they have changed but I don't think its as simple as saying can we have him back we are stuck anymore.
