I think he´s recovering from the metatarsal injury. It takes time mates, I had one when I was sixteen and I needed one month and a half with the plaster cast and when it was took off from my left foot I got a terrible cramps each time I stepped on the floor.
That´s one of the reasons why I think the criticism on Alonso the last year was too unfair.

I think a better question is, where is Arbeloa?  I thought the announcer said during the Preston game that he had returned to training but he didn't make the bench at Stoke.  Degen's not even on the radar, IMO, but we need Arbeloa back pronto.  Carra always puts in an honest shift at RB but is a weak link against teams that sit deep and invite you to go around the outside.

Rafa said after the Preston game that he needed one more week off. So, it´s supposed he will be ready for the everton game.

I understood he and Dossena were supposed to provide the attacking width we lack. Never mind a full-back also needs to (be able to) defend.

With no Degen available, Aurelio in and out through injury, Pennant completely out of favour, Keane being out of favour, Egg Nog used rarely and Plessis out of the picture, how big is our squad in real terms? We also had Torres and Skrtel out for quite a while apiece, it makes the lack of proper use of the entire squad by Rafa even more baffling

I'm sure he signed thinking "I know, I'll sign the papers, have 20 minutes in a couple of pre-season games, then get myself injured, sit back and enjoy the ride."

You lot are unbelievable at times. Do you think it's more fun to be in physio every day, rather than join your team mates training an dplaying?

If so, good luck...

I for one aren't suggesting for one second that he feigns injury, nor that he enjoys being injured. I've absolutely no idea about the bloke to be perfectly honest Lando.

Given though that he was frequently injured at all his previous clubs, and given that his last club were prepared to let him go on a free, one or two people questioned his signing before he came. I know he was free and all that and I'd assume he's not on Gerrard style wages, but even 10 grand a week (do footballers at big clubs ever earn as little as that these days? I don't know) is half a million quid a year, or one and a half million over a three year contract.

Like I said in my post a page back, at least he didn't cost 7 million quid like Dossena (who will be on the absolute minumum of 2 mill a year as well). Some might even argue that you could make the point that at least he didn't cost 20.5 million quid like Keane, and God knows what salary he's on.

I wouldn't argue the last point though. I think Keane is begining to find his feet on the odd occasion that he plays, and if persevered with can recapture his former glories. He may yet become the 12 million pound player many thought he could be before we signed him.

Those contract negotiations should be interesting though. Particularly the "total control of transfers" clause.

Philipp Degen is expected to be out of action for the next four to five weeks after sustaining a metatarsal injury.

The Swiss defender, who has seen his debut season at Anfield held back by a series of injury problems, picked up the knock playing for the reserves against Manchester United last week.

Was there an article up about him being kept in place for the CL squad and Sami Hyypia not being called up (even though he was now deemed eligible) Can't find it atm.

Thats two spots weaker now Keane's gone.

Everythings crossed - not just fingers!

Hyypia has his CL place back, it was a strange choice given Degens injuries.

Someone else will get Keanes place now.

 This is getting pretty ridiculous tbh: Will he ever play a PL game for LFC? Is he any good at all? Does anyone really care at this point?
