nemeth's gone to blackpool on loan

he only went for a month to get his fitness levels up .

Didn't he get injured?

he was injured beginning of the season and was starting to come back around dec mate and he has gone out on loan for a month i think to get fitness up which to me seems that rafa is earmarking him for some first team action in the near future

Nemeth bust his cheek playing for Blackpool.

If Torres is injured or rested its the other garbage 'strikers' who'll step in

Typical of Rafa, he'll do it "his way" or more likely not at all. How many players do we have out on loan at the moment? It's almost as bad as his first season in charge when he loaned loads of Houllier's signings out, exception being these are his - or looking down the list it could be worse.

Players out on loan
No.  Position Player (and who to/how long)
40  GK David Martin (at Leicester City until the end of 2008–09 season)
––  GK Nikolay Mihaylov (at FC Twente until the end of 2009–10 season)
––  DF Jack Hobbs (at Leicester City until the end of 2008–09 season)
––  DF Robbie Threlfall (at Stockport County until the end of 2008–09 season)
––  DF Miki Roque (at FC Cartagena until the end of 2008–09 season)
35  MF Ryan Flynn (at Wrexham until April 26 2009)
33  MF Sebastián Leto (at Olympiacos until the end of 2008–09 season)
––  MF Paul Anderson (at Nottingham Forest until the end of 2008–09 season)
16  MF Jermaine Pennant (at Portsmouth Until the end of 2008-09 season)
10  FW Andriy Voronin (at Hertha Berlin until the end of 2008–09 season)
29  FW Krisztián Németh (at Blackpool for one month)
42  GK Peter Gulasci (at Hereford United until the end of 2008–09 season)
––  MF Adam Hammill (at Barnsley until the end of 2008–09 season)

We need a striker, I would recall Voronin simply to have some experienced cover on the bench. He scored twice in his last five (competitive) appearances for us, despite being mostly used off the bench - he scored one goal of those two mentioned and another ie two total, off the bench. It's better than having midfielders off the bench all the time or N'Gog

That is probably the right call since no one came in. He did work hard and score the odd goal. Better than nothing.

We really need to hope that Torres stays fit, and with hamstring injuries it's always in the back of your mind whether it will go again at any time, just ask Michael Owen.

Maybe Rafa will finally use Babel up top now.

I think we maybe tried for Saviola but didnt get him for some reason. Then again it could still be awaiting ratification from the FA.
My new blog for my upcoming holiday.

I would have recalled Voronin when Torres got injured, would have given us more options up front and it's not as if we are inundated with strikers at the club

Torres - was injured
Keane - flopped/sold/never given a chance/etc
Babel - sub for Riera, sub for Riera or sub for Riera
N'Gog - not always even on the bench
Kuyt - our best RM according to some, worst player according to others
Voronin - on loan

And despite JT's enthusiasm for them, the kids aren't getting much of a look in. Too many out and not enough in.

Benitez wants to play 4-5-1 obviously, and no doubt we've played our best football with that formation.

As someone else said on another post, the plan may have been to sell Alonso, play Gerard in CM, with Keane behind Torres...so Alonso stays, is one of our best players, and so Gerard plays behind Torres and keane is nowhere.

So....he sells Keane, leaving us with a strike force of Torres and erm....not sure.

We have Kuyt, Ngog and Babel as our realistic options...can any of them play the lone striker role that Torres does?  Kuyt certainly can't and the other two are totally unproven in the prem.

So if Keane's face doesn't fit, fine, but surely he is better in our camp than someone else's?  When (not if) Torres is injured again, wtf do we do then?  Play Gerard as the striker???

For a team chasing the title for the first time in 20 years (ish) which other top 4 manager would leave their team so exposed?

Manure have attacking options to spare, and I'm not saying we should by 4 £30m strikers....I'm just wondering why Rafa would sell (at a loss) the only other experienced, proven striker in our squad?

It makes little sense, unless we had someone lined up and that fell through at the last minute...but is highly unusual for such a deal to go completely unreported anywhere.

I am very worried about our faltering challenge dying very quickly now.

Also makes the failure in signing Heskey look even worse now.

£3.5m for him in our predicament would have been a steal.

Having a 20 mill voronin with probably good wages sitting on the bench moaning like a 4 year old kid, and having the press and fans moan more about Keane would be a good thing for the club?

Its pretty clear he would never accept beeing a sub. And when everyone is fit our best combo by far up top is Gerrard and Torres. And its the combo that our two best players prefer.
