I haven't been particularly complimentary about Keane and on occasions I have been taken to task. Now is not the time to poor petrol on the flames. I do however think that Robbie will be a fantastic success in the Championship - sorreeeeeee !!!!!!!!! LOL :)

Good luck Robbie.

Robbie Keane was last night forced out of Liverpool before completing an incredible return to Tottenham.

Keane, who only moved to Anfield for £20.3million in July, was determined to stay.

But boss Rafa Benitez bullied him into rejoining Spurs after warning he was prepared to let him rot in the reserves for the rest of the season. Republic of Ireland striker Keane, 28, even told Liverpool he only wanted to sign for Tottenham on loan until May.

But Benitez made it clear that the forward had no future on Merseyside while he was still manager.

The bitter breakdown left Keane with no choice and he returned to White Hart Lane for an initial £12m, rising to £15.5m.

Benitez is now set to sign a new four-year contract this week to stay at Anfield.

An absolute f@rking disgrace i tell ya! Poor man, very poor man management.

I dont think any player will ever want to come to LFC again while Rafa is in charge

yet no actual quotes from anyone and just pure specualtion from the press .

Wasn't given enough time to settle by Rafa. He could have another Anfield legend otherwise. :(

Its all on Rafas head and he's big enough to take it.I just think that even if Rafa had his mind made up he still should have kept him till the end of the season maybe just incase, but obviously that was impossible. It seems Keane got frustrated and wanted out...Que the " Oh no he wanted to stay, hes a red"..Maybe but the reality is that no one knows exactly what went on behind closed doors.

Still though, good luck to Keane back at Spurs. Its over no need for the tears! :D

pretty much agree with that  100% - its not as if we have sold torres or gerrard or pepe or xabi or carra or masher - who have all proved to be important crucial members of the team . keane hadnt . and tbh IMO i dont thiink even if torres get injured keane would of been able to do well up front on his own anyway . just my opinion of course.

Legend is a bloody big word to throw around and despite him being a decent enough player when at spurs - could never ever see keane being a legend no matter how many games he played .

We seem to be very very poor at getting good prices for players. Spurs were desperate to get Keane back especially with Defoe out. Whoever does the negotiations at LFC want sacking (probably Parry).

destro wrote:Why do we keep mentioning this 20 Million figure, there have been numerous articles posted saying we had only paid 9 Million of it, we sold him back for 12 Million so we made 3 Million. If thats true, apart from the fact we are a bit short up front now then thats a good piece of business ?

i dont think it'll work like that somehow.

it was £20.3 million including add-ons based on appearances, goals etc.

The actual fee was more like £18m - of which we've apparently paid £9m... with £9m of the fee yet to be paid.

Spurs bid of £12 (plus add-ons) is more than likely to include (imo) the £9m that we still owe them + £3m cash

So, the £9m is wiped from both payments. We've paid them £9m, they've paid us £3m.

A loss of £6m .... (though there will be more money coming in with add-ons depending on appearances, goals, and that sort of thing)

essentially its cost us £6m to have robbie keane on loan for 6 months

Personally the whole episode has been an act of folly. Rafa clearly did not fancy him and the bord did.

With the money we lost we could have picked up Owen this Jan maybe twice over......

We beat Chelsea without Keane, we are still equipped to win the PL this year.

Nobody is innocent in the Robbie Keane saga, Keane himself didnt perform, Rafa's man management skills seem to be a joke and he didnt give Keane enough of a decent run, Parry seems to be the worst negotiator ever, and then them two Yanks top it all off!!!

The Club is a laughing stock at the moment!

What striker or attacking player will want to join Liverpool in the near future, Torres and Gerrard is the preferred partnership so theres no way of breaking that, then Rafa will prob just stick them out wide like he did with Kuyt and even Keane had a game or two out wide left at the start!

We have no Plan B going into the business end of the season, what if one or God forbid both Torres and Gerrard get injured, who does that leave us with! The back up players arent up to it!

I think the way Rafa treated Keane is a disgrace, Im sure if he had a spanish passport then he wud have been given more time! If keane didnt work out after 6 months then Dossena should have been released in Sept along with Degen, and Lucas should have been turned away at the airport!!!

Evereybody is at fault for this saga and turning us into an even bigger laughing stock!

As a paddy I try to follow the Irish players in the premiership. I'm not an out and out Liverpool fan but I love the city and the people of Liv. I've always admired the way the club approached the game of football, on and off the field. In regards to Robbie Keane, I don't understand how you can bench a player, who will run himself and defenders ragged. If you don't have heart you are cheating the fans. I think Torres and Benitez conspired to keep him out. He must be gutted at what has happened.

Benitez is a stuborn waiter as far as i am concerned. He has well lost the plot thev sooner he goes the better....then we might get someone who knows how to get the best out of players....instead of being stuck with one who likes to destroy players confidences. In Rafa i will never trust, get rid i say...and take parry with him. :nod

Nanny, I'm just trying to get GYBS to admit that we wouldn't necessarily have to go on a massive 5 year rebuilding plan if we got a new manager.

And your new manager is???
