This thread proves Robbie Keane offered no lasting memories bar a couple of games, a few goals and bags full of fluffed sitters.

maybe just wasnt the player for us - maybe rafa realised this while he was here and sold him on without loosing even more money on him during the summer .

when were we last in this situation then exactly ?

why are you so happy to be in second place 2 points behind utd with them having a game in hand when a couple of weeks ago we had a 7 point lead and played against teams we should have beaten and we're in a winni g position in these games only to make a mess of it. you have to take games on their merit. yes we would have taken this situation at the start of the season but we should be in a much stronger position now. thats what im annoyed about.

who says im happy ? im just as disappointed as the next man that we dropped points but im not going around slagging off the manager and blaming him for everything when i knwo the players are just as much at fault

well he picks the team ,makes the substitutions keeps playing kuyt etc so im sorry but the buck stops with him. i honestly cant see why you have so much faith in him i really cant but i would love to be proved wrong  cause i love the club with a passion but dont thinks its being run properly on and off the pitch at the mo and that annoys me so much.

So when we win games does rafa get all the credit then ?

from you yeh. if he plays his best team and gets the right players in their best positions and the right formation then he deserves credit. equally when he doesnt do these things he deserves stick. but you dont keep playing players who are not good enough and buying players who are not good enough and leave yourself with no cover when the inevitable injuries happen, and hes guilty of all these things im afraid

So when we beat newcastle who did you give credit too ?

What?...Like Newcastle offered any competition?

A blind dog and a bag of crisps could have beaten Newcastle that day.

which team is that ? never heard of them .  ???

What? Newcastle?

They're currently 15 in the Premiership.

You have heard of the Premiership, yeah?

both players and manager cause it was an excellent performance and showed the potential we have when things are done right and if we could have spent money more wisely we could have played like this more often, but we dont have enough cover for top players cause resources have been wasted. we lack quality in reserve and when our top players are of key weve nobody to step up to the plate to carry us over the line in games we are dominating. that is down to the manager mate

But in that game rafa dropped keane and played players like babal and lucas and played kuyt up front which is surely everything you have slagged him off for and on that day the players peformed so they both deserve credit ? and when the players dont perform they both should get critisism .

no argument there mate but the resources being wasted bad substitutions and the persisting with kuyt week in week out and never taking him of no matter how bad hes playing defies logic. just because you can point to a good result with these players being on the pitch doesnt jusify their continued selection. it was a shockingly bad newcastle team remember

but lucas doesnt play all the time , same with babel , kut does cause there is just no other option that is better than him out right - if there was i would have him in the team in a flash and leave kuyt as back up . all the other games we have dropped points maybe bar wigan rafa has put out the team most people want - against the bs first time round he played the strongest 11 and still they didnt win it was rafas fault - rafa then changed it around for the wigan game and didnt win and once again its rafas fault - same with the fa cup game and we didnt win it was rafas fault - he thn plays his strongest 11 (without keane ) against chelsea and we win . yeah he messed up a little taking off yossi and gerrard against wigan which was the wrong desicion . but other than that for the majority of the time he has played the players most want out there . yeah kuut hasnt played well for a while now - but how many times has he come up with last minute winners or tackles or blocks and the guy keeps going and closing down all game long . many people have wanted babel played more - well he has had a couple of games starting now and look how he performed ?

in the first game against everton he suddenly switched to a 442 playing keane in an unfamiliar role since hes joined us. we threw away 2 points in that game. then we switched back to our usual formation and changes the centre halve and we give away another goal at a set piece by not marking the same player who had scored the previous game. then he messed up the subs against wigan and we know how that played out. look we could go on and on we both know where we stand. im not happy at having a go at our manager but i just have lost faith in him. i respect your point of view but dont agree with it.
shamrock rovers and liverpool are not a matter of life and death to me. they are much more important than that.

keane in an unfamiliar role for us ? up front with another striker ? what role should keane of played then ? we threw away two poitns ie the players with their slack marking and yossi with a poor tackle - same with lucas poor tackle in the wigan game and the slack marking in the fa cup game - can those go down as rafas fault ? individual errors costing us points ?

I think you are thinking of the Kuyt thread. This thread shows that the lasting memory is of a disgraceful decision and a complete cockup by Liverpool.

last response. keane is a link player rather than and out and out striker and was bought for his "game intelligence" rafa doesnt usually play 442 was really my point

Link player ? Keane has never been a link player as such , and has never been a striker to play on his own up front . Didnt see much game intelligence while he was here tbh .
