I've read in the Spanish press that there has been a bit of scandal because Michael Phelps the swimmer has been caught smoking with a cachimba, or however is called in English that kind of pipe.

I'd like to know if you find this much more different than a footballer drinking a few beers one night. And if it is, I'd like to know where lies the difference, and the reason, is it much worse because being illegal or much worse because smoking that is more hazardous to the health?

I feckin' smoke....  So what? A man has to have some vices or life will be dead boring.

MASSIVE over-reaction, imho.

The man is a massive athlete. What he does on his own time is his business..... as long as it ain't illegal or harms anyone.

Pretty harmlous if its occasional, but never the less he's broke the law. And it is a much more serious health threat than drinking. The psychological effect Weed has on the Brain can be devasting and can sometimes  come to attention later on in life, its all great when your young and "cool" But its defiantely not the harlmess drug its been so often percieved.

In saying that, it doesnt mean 100% of smokers will over time have some kind of Mental and Psychological effect from it, but quite a large percentage will. I've spoken with many Psycologists "off the record" and they've told me first hand in their expertise and opinion that Marry-Ju-Wana is a serious health threat or can be, coincending with one's gene pool.

But in this case, in any case infact a celebrity or sporsman supposedly an idol to kids will always get an overeaction. It sells papers.
