Go Cardinals, was kinda funny reading how a few of you actually found American Football entertaining.  I fell into the trap with it for about 4 seasons then it just became boring and repetitive.  I keep track of it but it just doesn't seem to require that much strategy or anything, it all comes down to who is bigger, stronger, faster etc etc.  It's all about just being physically gifted sometimes.

What EXACTLY happens, apart from a lot of stoppages and sexy birds bouncing around in next-to-nothing? :D

It's basically rugby with 10 square feet of padding and slightly more camp and convoluted affair.

Emerald, the difference to rugby is that you can get tw@tted when you dont even have the ball.
The padding is defo needed or else you'd have half your squad injured each week.

Well, I posted in here last year saying I thought it would be on-sided, and I was well wrong.

Im thinking the same this year, but I hope Im wrong (again :D  )

You've basically got the best defence against massive underdogs who can be very
creative offensively. Should be interesting.

I hope the BBC coverage is decent.

Joe - how do you reckon it will pan out?

I think the Steelers defense is just gonna be too strong.

I cannot stand Steelers fans. There are so many of em around here and they are very annoying. Pittsburgh is such a sh.ite town. Its so shi.t that nobody even lives there anymore but people still make their kids/grandkids follow the same crappy teams.  I don't like any of their players either.

If the Steelers D does have a weakness, it would be the Cardinals strength. A qb with a quick release that wont be rattled too much by pressure and a corp of receivers that are strong enough to run after the catch and gain yards and fast enough to expose the over-aggressive defense.

I don't expect either team to run the ball that much, because the both suck at it and are both decent at stopping the run.

A key to the game for me that NOBODY around here is talking about is the Cardinal's ability to force turnovers.  If they get a few early ones, they might be able to dictate how the rest of the game is played.

At the end of the day, the Steelers are the better team with more quality and are more consistent, and are therefore likely to win. However, on any given game the Cardinals are capable of catching lighting in a bottle and playing indefensible football.

Maybe you're right but Mario Lemieux is a legend!

bit before my time, but I can't stand Pittsburgh talk about Crosby. Ovechkin is the best player on the planet right now.

I've been a huge penguin fan since Jagr, Lemieux, and Kovalev days.  Then we sucked for a long time, and now we have such talent but still continue to lose.  Wish Jagr would come back though, would be perfect.

Although I love the penguins, I HATE THE STEELERS.

Go CARDINALS!

Try living in Crosby's hometown, mate.  Never hear the end of it when it comes to that lad. :no

Anyways, I've only been to Pittsburgh once (almost 10 years ago now) but I loved it.  Proper sports town, that, and I've always liked the Steelers.  Conversely, I've grown up considering the Cardinals a laughing stock and I can't respect any team that leaves its home city...particularly if it keeps its nickname.  Hope the Steelers maul em. :D

the worst case of a team moving and not changing the nickname is the former New Orleans Jazz becoming the Utah Jazz.   There are probably more basketball players on the Jazz than there are jazz musicians in the entire state.

Honorable Mention the Minnesota Lakers (Minnesota is the land of 1,000 Lakes) moving to LA.

Although the Cardinals have had three home cities in their history, they have been owned by the same family since 1932

And most franchise moves are done because cities refuse to pay for stadiums and don't quite realize the bargaining power the owners of the team have with their ability to uproot and go to a new city that is more than glad to have NFL football and is willing to pay for a stadium.
