Ryder cup

watching SSN's it seemed like people were crushing faldo for picking poulter at the time it was announced and he was by far their best golfer.

The Ryder Cup has different rules on cheering than normal golf events and when they are in Europe the euro fans are just as loud so people need to get off their high horse. If you can't take the pressure, you don't deserve to win. Its not like people were making noises during shots or anything.  Your allowed to take as much time as you need, so its really up to the players if they let the crowds get to them or not.

As tight as a Nun's near the end, but our middle order were never strong enough against home favourites, and Garcia went t!ts up for some reason.

Kenny Perry played the best golf of his life, and Boo Weekley, JB Holmes and Furyk were never going to lose.

Jiminez was an obvious liability from the beginning (and Furyk is a solid player), Wilson didn't show up, Hanson ran Holmes close but couldn't quite match him. Mahan and Casey cancelled each other out.

We were never ahead and whenever we got near, we f*cked it again, failing to build on our mini successes.

A deserved yank win in the end, but not by that much - the final score isn't indicative of how close it was.

And so we head to Wales where the women are men and the sheep are scared  :D

Europe never looked like coming back into it really after going 2 behind, they huffed and puffed a bit but it never felt convincing!
Well played USA they deserved it far more, some excellent displays by their players.
Overall im dissapointed, not as much with the result but because Europe never really performed and there was'nt much tension! Not a classic Ryder Cup!
Congrats Joe Terp! :(

wasn't much tension?

maybe not on the final day because although there were some times when I was thinking "well if they just turn around some of those middle matches that could go either way, then it could get dicey for us"

But there was a lot of tension in many of the matches on the first 2 days.  Earlys leads are so important and so rare for us, and any match that goes to 18 is a tense match. And there were some big putts holed on 18 and a lot of times where we were 1 up and then hit it in the water.

And overall, the quality of the play on both sides was very high. There were a lot of holes halved with birdies.  I think the Europeans actually played well, good enough to win even in any other year, we just played out of our heads

I think 'Zinger is going to redefine what being a Ryder Cup captain means.  He put sooooo mutch time into every possible strategic decision. He became a complete dicator and controlled as many aspects of the tournament as possible in order to give his team the best chance at winning.  He even changed the qualifying system to ensure he had more "big game" ready players, and increased his # of captains picks, and then picked them based on a team strategy and how they would fit the format (i.e. J.B. Holmes in 4 ball where he is either going to help you with a 380 yard drive, or if he drives it off the course, its no bother because he has a partner) If whoever becomes the Euro captain for 2010 takes a page out of Zinger's playbook, I do not see away teams winning the cup for a while unless they are completely dominated.

I agree the USA chant gets worn out very quickly, we tend to get a little lazy when it comes to our cheering.

Oh, and thanks for the newsflash, I thought everyone loved us "yanks".   :sniffle

oh, and for someone who doesn't watch a whole lot of golf, a very entertaining weekend to watch no doubt.  Watching boo celebrate was great, a lot of fun spirit displayed and quality golf played on both sides.

Overall the Yanks sank their putts when it mattered but both teams played superb golf - look at wilson getting beaten yet playing round 6 under par ?? the big three for europe didnt play well and when it mattered but overall the yanks desrved their win - no blame can be laid on faldos doorstep.

As for the yank crowd and players like Weekly whipping up the crowd despite the hole still being in play is a disgrace but to be expected just like in 99. Azinger just kept encouraging them as well . not very good sportsmanship at all.

No big surprises there then!!

I think he'll be a good 'un, the European players respect him - especially with his Ryder Cup record - and although he can be a bit of a moody :censored: at times I think he'll stick it to the Americans!!

Great Ryder Cup record but he is a first class tw.at.
Not sure he's got the personally to make a good captain.
Got a nice pair of ti.ts though!  :pirate
