Blaming Rafa for a lack of heart is starting to wear thin even Ferguson makes bad selections only his players gloss over his tactical ineptitude by giving 110% every game and playing till the very last second of the game ,until Liverpool employ and utilise players that never switch off and will do anything to win then we won't even run a close second .
If you need scapegoats don't blame Benitez that just smacks of being to easy ,look closer to home (like on the pitch)

I think Ferguson has plenty to do with that.

The manager maybe cant be blamed for the odd performance, but its not the odd
performance is it?

Against everton and tonight we found ourselves 1-1 witth NO STRIKERS ON THE PITCH.
Rafa is wholeheartedly to blame for that.

Just wait for some bright spark to say i miss peewees posts and he will be back. Like Stu his side kick woe is me.
The funny thing is they actually think people like them talk about being disolutional after the disgusting pms I have recieved from Stu before and after he was banned he ever steps foot back on this forum again that is it from me.
That is final.

Karhaz: True enough.

I'm waiting to see this match, but I forward you that at least by reading the team selection and all your comments, I can't agree some of Rafa's decissions.

Rafa has tried to "close" the game after scoring our goal in the last games. Which is nice. But there are teams, that in certain moments, do not know closing games. You have to have the right mentality for that, the Italians are masters of the art.

But, Rafa, if you see that your team doesn't have that Italian genetics, don't try to "close" the game again. Some said at the beginning of the season that our improvement had to do with a more adventurous approach of the game. Perhaps Rafa should bet for that option from now own. Because we do not seem to know to close games that we're leading by one. If we did, some player decissions wouldn't ever happen.

That said, it wouldn't be serious for me to change a trust in a manager that lasted years in 4 confusing games, if someone does change their opinion in 3 games, then IMHO deep down they didn't trust  the manager before either.

But I understand patience can run out and I respect that. I'm just not sure as some are that the future will be better with another manager. Anyhow I'll support the new manager as I've supported Rafa, if he does reasonably well (that is we make it to the champions and all that)

we had em in the first half and played like loons in the second. I dont think its Italian style or whatever we just played badly.

For me and optimism, well I am gutted tonight but at least Rafa looked ANGRY and Im glad as maybe the team needs that.  He gets slated for being cold well he was in a foul mood tonight and I hope he lets the players know that as well.  Those that are left standing after a tirade can then fight for us

That doesn't always come down to the manager Sabre.  Closing out a game has as much to do with bottle as anything else - and we just haven't shown enough of it lately, you can't blame Benitez for that.  That Wigan team was absolute sh.ite tonight (on paper anyway), we should have stuffed them no matter what team Benitez put out or what substitutes he made.  It was the same in the games against Everton, and in fact in all of the 7 draws we've had in our last 10 league games.  The teams put out were easily good enough to win, but we don't.

Now I personally can't believe that Benitez is telling his team to sit on a 1-0 lead when time and again we have shown that it's a daft tactic.  Benitez always goes on about 'killing the game with a second goal' in his post-match interviews, so you would imagine that he is also sending out that message to our players.  Rafa is not perfect but sometimes the players have to stand up and be counted.  Too many times lately they haven't, they haven't coped well with the pressure of being top of the league unfortunately.  As painful as it is to admit it, maybe we are just not good enough yet to win the title.

It don't much matter in Football as in Life whether your an optimist or a pessimist, it doesn't win you accolades unless you are prepared to put the necessary work in to achieve your ultimate goal.

I'm a realist and the reality is this.............. we are currently 3rd and draw specialists whilst the Mancs have gone eleven games without conceding a goal ! ??? We need United to lose 2 games and  (they have lost 2 in 22 so far) and hope we win the majority of ours and avoid defeat at Old Trafford in March.

Whilst we arguably have the worlds best all round footballer in Steven Gerard there are too many "ordinary" footballers around him who lack the will, desire and sadly sometimes the mental ability to win through when the pressure grows.

I don't think I've felt this flat since 1996 when we entertained Coventry at Anfield and squandered a 1-0 lead and lost 2-1 to hand the initiative back to the Mancs who went on to win the title.

The debate on Rafa belongs elsewhere on here but he looked for all the world a beaten man tonight. He has been insulated from criticism in the first half of the season due to a few fairly large slices of luck ( City away, Wigan at Home, Hull at home, Utd at home) but nothing will protect him from the barrage if he clutches 4th from 1st come the end of the season as LFC did in 96.............................

:D. The digs at me in here.

The fact is some of you got abusive when I aired my thoughts about rafa and basically I have been proved right. I take no joy in our plight however I take joy in being able to point out that peewee knows more than you think he knows.

And ciggy, no need for the personal abuse and questioning support when you have stated tonight that you hope so lose in the CL, I never want us to lose, that's a perverted thing for you to say. Now you started the abuse in this thread as usual now it's up to you to stop it.

Another thing, I know everyone would love nothing more than another league title but lets not throw away the season.  We're still in the FA cup and in good position to advance in the CL.  As old as these things get after 18 years of no title, in particular the CL, lets not take them for granted.  I know Torres, Masch, Reina, Keane and many others on the squad would absolutely love to get medals from either of these tournaments and I am sure everyone would love to see at least three of those win SOMETHING while they are here.
