Refreshing post coming from you, Mick. Not to say that you don't ever, but you're being the Devil's advocate at the moment with the positive vibe in your post, which I like. It's good to be optimistic, but lest you forget being realistic. How do you recognize and balance the two? Better still, which do you opt for? Such is life.
I agree with Effs in that we are playing far too flat football at the moment. "Houllier-esque" as he put it. This is true. I've noticed it far too much in our play of late. Far too many balls being played backwards when we should be like a steam train when presented to attack. Lucas was guilty of playing the ball square and back far too often, and I found myself calling him for all the names of the day. Is that Lucas' general style of play, or is he instructed to do this in training? Who knows. But Rafa seriously needs to change our direction once we get into the last 3rd of the pitch. I mentioned this about a week or so ago in one of the match threads. We're not scoring enough goals. This needs to be fixed ASAP! But the question is: can it be done fast enough to turn things around? Is Rafa a good enough manager to realize this major flaw in our play? I also stated in a thread a week or so ago that the next 5 or more games will be telling for our season. Well, that's one of those games gone, and so far the signs are not good. We are still far too tame in attack. It's maddening because the rest of our general play is really as good as any. It's just in that last 3rd we are found wanting.
