"Kuyt was bought because Morientes didn't work out. No-one could have foreseen that, and you're a liar if you try and tell me otherwise"

are you saying that non of us had foreseen that Morientes was going to be :censored:?

if so i think you should start to look back at some old posts.

well if you did think morentis was going to fail then well done you are prob one in a hundred thousand as the guy was scoring goals for fun all over europe , i didnt expect him to hit the ground running due to lack of match practise and fitness but did expect him to do well for us .

Dont think it was lack of playing that made him poor - it was the prem - as once he went back to valencia he started banging the goals in again - and he was sitting on bench for 5 months not a year

His stubbornness is of Houllier-like proportions, though he's 10 times the manager.

I used to really, really, really like Rafa until he started blaming all and sundry for the sh#t results and lack of progress (something that was refreshingly absent from his post-match interviews when he first arrived and immediately differentiated him from Houllier). His constant whinging has really started to grate and his bi-annual moan about lack of transfer funds (though he's had more than most) is classless.

Sacking him is pointless though. He's more likely to walk away if his contract dispute is not sorted out. A new manager would want new players and a new backroon staff and we'd be back to square one.

he ended his loan spell with monaco at end of 04 season then went back to madrid start of 04-05 season - played a few games then came to us jan 05 . yeah he was rusty and very poor fitness levels and game sharpness but that wasnt why he didnt work out as he had a full pre season with us and played a lot of games in the 05-06 season . His game is just not suited to the prem - too quick and not enough space for him - still a quality striker as he has proved before and since he went back to spain and a top bloke as well when i was lucky enough to meet him .

Well if history is any thing to go by i would not be shocked to see him walk after the next FA Cup game.

No where to hide for him now if the teams fails he has failed as this is what he has chosen.

I get mad at way some of you slag of the of the players like kuyt and babel , and whats even more wierd is that they are both not playing in there right positions.

Never mind why not have a go at alonso who was playing in the right position and had a shocker.

But like I said its pointless to talk about these things when its rafa's team now and if we win I will praise him as much as if he fails I will say about it.

What you fail to see is that due to the owners past and present, this team is by and large full of Rafa's 2nd-5th choice players per position.

Dossena or Heinze?

Arbeloa or Alves?

Agger or Vidic? (The fact we were pursuing both anyway is a testament to the gaffer.)

Pennant or Simao?

Kuyt or Villa?

Riera or Barry? (Again - testament to the gaffer's planning that he got Albert at the "last minute" (when in reality the deal would have been on standby for weeks.))

The only current "starting 11" players here who appear to be Rafa's first choices are Torres, Mascher, Alonso and Reina.

Kuyt was bought because Morientes didn't work out. No-one could have foreseen that, and you're a liar if you try and tell me otherwise.

Babel was bought for potential, along with Lucas and several others. They were never bought to go straight into the team.

Josemi et al were only ever stop-gaps, and who can argue that the 1st arrival of Rafa's reign didn't bring out the best in Finnan and turn him into the best defensive rightback in the Premiership?
I have no doubt missed someone out, but who cares? The gist is there.

Oh, and the other thing you fail to see, is that you are a plonker. :nod

Thats all very well lando but he still bought players he thought would work and alot of them don't so he hasn't done the best with what he has.

well keane has only been here for 5/6 months so far too early to judge on wether he will be a success - yes kuyt has been a success at liverpool - maybe not in the style of others but his goals while he has been here have been crucial to us and babel has been hot and cold - had some very important impacts on the game and will have to see what happens with him to judge wether he is a success or not .

p.s. Leg babel played on sunday .
