Got to agree - I was a bit shocked when i saw it.

The people who thought it was hilarious - can you explain why?
The way I see it is its a joke about the fella doing karaoke?
When in reality one of his kids/family may have been blown up?

I have a broad mind when it comes to humour, but there are limits.

Yeah I guess its about the guy doing karaoke. I found that pose funny with the caption, but not the situation around him.

So going by that standard, it would be deemed OK if a person from the Middle East
put up a similar caption from Hillsborough or Heysel with a simlar "funny" caption?

Yea, thought not. Double standards.

Weren't you two just employing the "it's just a joke, calm down" angle in the History thread?  Before you get all sanctimonious you might ask yourself why you think one off-colour joke is funny and another one is not? ???


Disclaimer: I'm not necessarily condoning either joke, I'm just bemused by the differing reactions to both...

If you cant see the difference Bob, I obviously would have to construct a long elaborate post explaining the differences.
I dont think Im that articulate.

It's garingly obvious to me.

In the History thread the joke is about the "scenario" of a black president eveing scores for injustices in the past.

The poster on here is poking fun at a man, who in an instant has had his world ripped apart in an instant - the joke is saying "hey look - he's doing karaoke".

I find one acceptable, the latter not.
