I think there's a clear pattern in Lando's insults. He only insults when the team, the manager or some players are insulted or too harshly treated. He pays with the same coin, insults, and some people is offended.

The moderators simply try to keep the peace in those forums and attend the report buttons as fairly as possible. I'm all for asking to Lando to calm down and not to insult. But that request must be followed by another one, don't insult the players or the manager. Players and managers are not said to be only not good enough, not solid, or shíte playing football, they're also called retards, and other insults. And when your players are insulted there will always be fans that will be angry with that.

I certainly don't share Lando's way of posting by disbelief when our players or the manager are insulted, but I truly understand the reason of Lando's anger.

In all fairness I can understand Lando being angry last night. The way so many members are quick to dismiss what happened during the match is unbelievable. I logged on during the match, into the match thread and watched the match. And even during the match all you could read from the regular whingers were the same scapegoats being blamed (mostly Kuyt). Nothing constructive, just constant unbiased bitching. Bigmick mentioned about the penalty decision not being mentioned as much, of course not, these posters have more important things to discuss, like how its kuyts fault or indeed rafas. It got tedious last night beyond all levels previously known. The comments that were mentioned were beyond a joke.

Just because we are second in the league doesnt mean we are challenging.

We will never win the league as long as we play at Anfield.

I mean for gods sake, yes we were frustrated but each and every match thread is getting worse. Its getting beyond pathetic, I for one would be happy if at the end of each match and having to put up with tripe posted in these threads to just see them deleted and have reasonable topics put up where constructive views can be put forth. That way, people like Lando and many others wont get so wound up having to read it from our fellow, and I use this loosely "supporters".

I dont post in footy forum at all these days and am very selective at what I read. I find by ignoring alot of windups, kneejerk OTT pro and anti posts, the self obsessed egotisical attention seeking stuff that my enjoyment for supporting Liverpool FC , not too mention state of my blood pressure is at much higher level.

Ironically I post more at this forum about TV shows and movies and post more about Liverpool FC at a private torrent site then I do about TV shows and movies, go figure

Hes a funny guy and I have no problem with him, but if Stu is going to be banned for bad language and insults to others (anti rafa), surely the same consequences should be given to people like lando (pro rafa).

There are many ways to defend and support (or indeed constructively criticize) the team that don't require torrents of insults that have long since stopped being funny. Pity that some people never seem to get that.

I aint been here that long so dont know lando that much but i have seen some of landos posts against others and have to admit that he does give some personal insults. Makes you laugh at times but does go over the top.

I think it's a shame when any genuine fan gets banned, be it Stu or Lando. That said I've been in the mods shoes as well, and it's very difficult when the abuse is clogging up each and every thread. Hopefully before too long they'll both be back and posting in their inimitable way, but trying to stay within what are fairly rough guidelines to be fair.

Probably in both peoples case, they'd be better advised to trust their knowledge of the game and argue on that. Maybe they are both a bit too quick to press the "rip the erse out of them button" when in actual fact they are both more than capable of defending their corner without all the other stuff.

I do agree though that the match threads are pretty much a waste of time. I'm not sure who's worse on there, the devout pro-Rafa people or the die hard anti's, but the posts come at such a rate that even if you do try and post something sensible, by the time you check it's gone up there are a dozen insults after it (usually insulting somebody about three pages back as they're slow typers) and it becomes impossible. Quite often someone calls you a c... for a comment, but as it's four pages after your original imput you don't see it till a couple of days later and there seems little point responding then.

Sabre's point about people "insulting" the manager and players is an interesting one. I guess if someone comes on and says "ah FFS Kuyt is fecking useless" they are insulting him, but in football vernacular it's a fairly standard jibe. Go to any game and you'll hear blokes screaming much worse at all players, its more in exasperation I think than in insult. Equally if people say the manager is clueless, I don't think it necessarily needs people to jump in with size 10 bovver boots, it's a figure of speech.

Ultimately, on a forum if everyone agreed with everything and everybody took the "well we're still in it, spirit of Istanbul" line there'd pretty soon be about four posts per day. Equally, if every single poster was anti rotation there'd be no counterpoint and the thing would fold up. The pro's and the anti's need each other is I guess what I'm saying, and maybe it'd be best if we all remember that.

On a side note, I have a hunch that I'm personally responsible for much of Laza's disillusionment with the football threads. That's a shame and entirely something which has been accidental on my part. Hopefully sometime soon he'll find the inclination to come back over and post again, we agreed on little but the place is poorer without his input.

I come from Spain, we insult before saying good morning, and we insult before saying hello to the seat mate before the match

I know that.

I know when there's the line of what's acceptable and certainly mine is not too rosy. When you say someone is fúcking useless you're not insulting the player, but his game.

When you say Kuyt eats the cóck of Rafa and that's why he plays, once it can be funny (not for me), but when you repeat it every week, every match thread, you kill discussions, you get posters like Lando mad, and needless to say, you ruin football threads.

Well Lando had a better class of insult , infact i would go as far as to say if you were insulted by Lando it was more of a compliment . FFS the lad had been on here for ages and everyone and i mean everyone new what he was like regarding his insults . It wasn't personal iit was a friggein artform at times . It a shame that another long term poster and one of the characters of the forum have been shafted goodstyle . Do you know what this lad done for drummerphil and the visits he made ? I tell you what phil would be spinning at the state of this place and the way long term members are being sh!t on left right and centre . Instead of characters we have to put up with drivel and character assasinations instead . Lando was one of the good guys believe it or not and one of the better posters on the forum before this place deccided to have a humour transplant . How many long term members is that we've lost in the past 6 months ,a friggen shedload and this place is poorer for it . Maybe it's natural wastage ,you know like in a place of work where people retire or find other jobs or are sacked .
Well i'd say this place is getting hit by the credit crunch and in danger of going into administration the way it's being run and the way it's long term members are being treated . Having said all that i won't be going anyywhere and i'll still be sticking me orre in ,surely theres got to be some balance d'yer think?

Igor I don't agree with you mate, it's not the mods fault. There was a thread a couple of weeks back where they were called allsorts for not stamping out abuse. They acted here rightly or wrongly, and people can't have it both ways.

FWIW I think that the thing which posters find most annoying about both Stu and Lando (since they come from different endsof the spectrum) is not so much being called a "shrivelled up scrotum" by Lando, or a "clueless bellend" by Stu, it's probably more to do with both lads refusal on occasions to even accept that the other guy is entitled to a point of view. They both on occasions instantly go for the ridicule angle rather than actually arguing the point, which they are both good at anyway so there's no need.

Maybe the bans were harsh I don't know, but it's never an easy call. I don't believe the forum is in a aporticularly bad place at the moment either to be honest. There are some good new posters from all ends of the spectrum and just occasionally you get a cracking debate. I cop miles more abuse now than I ever did, but I'm big enough and ugly enough etc etc.
