Keane by all accounts was awful and should've come off.  Torres still finding fitness and I can understand wanting to wrap him in cotton wool, therefore taking him off.

He picked a line-up that most of us wanted to see.  At the end of the day the players he put out were better than the opposition man for man, what more can Benitez do??  The players have to shoulder responsibility here, Benitez is just the easy target for stupid people.

completely agree.

however i also agree with saints post....

We invited Everton on to us by taking Torres off. With Kuyt up front on his own they could sit on the half way line in deck chairs and still catch him

I would have bought babel on for torres. Everton had to attack, and he could have exploited gaps

still hindsight is a wonderful thing

i'm astonished that so many people come out with this statement. have a good look at yourselves, will you?

what exactly was wrong with that team tonight? that was the 4.4.2 that so many have been clamoring for. we didn't expect keane to have such a stinker though, and torres was never going to set the game alight after being out for so long.

we were three minutes away from doing the double over them but were caught napping and by an excellent bit of movement from cahill.

in my opinion the manager did just about everything he could have tonight. the problem is that the players switched off a few minutes too soon.

yeah was working well untill rafa had to change back to 451 and thats when we looks :censored: and benny his sub gave away freekick and lost us game.

Yeah nice one !

so its rafas fault that yossi gave away a silly free kick is it ?

Ah thats rubbish Andy.

Sure, the two strikers were quiet tonight and in fairness to them the service from the midfield was crap...but you DON'T take away your attack, no matter how long is left to go. That's just inviting the other team on for gods sake, they don't have to worry about the break from going forward.

Benitez fecked this up big time.

I still think if you are going to bring Torres off when you are winning you have to put Babel on or you just allow the Everton defence to push as far forward as they want.

Don't you get it mate?

It doesn't matter - We had to WIN this game. No If's And's or But's ...

Nobody's talking about the form book, this was simply a must win game.

there is 16 games to go ----- 16 fecking games to go yet .

Yes, remember the one we have to play at OT .... against a team who are bang on form and technically will have a 3 pt lead on us after their next game.

bang on form ? bar that game against chelsea they have been :censored: and have scrapped lucky 1 nil wins .

yeh united are in no way "bang on form"  :no . I think they might find themselves in a bit of troule come next week, West Brom have really picked up their game, and will go there in high spirits
If you can't amaze people with your intelligence, try confusing them with your :censored: :)

oh my god - and post for over reaction of the year goes here - we are one point of top now people are talking about going down to 5th ?!?!? ffs

eh we were 7 points ahead 2 weeks ago look how many points we've dropped in that time due to draws. if we keep it up we will slip further behind and the top of the table is so tight. doesnt take a genius to work it out does it eh ?
shamrock rovers and liverpool are not a matter of life and death to me. they are much more important than that.

GYBS, I'm not saying it's Rafa's fault. Was just disappointed that we failed to pose a threat and let them sit in our half for the last 10 minutes.

We've just made our task so much harder, especially with all of the late wins that the other 4 teams around us secured this weekend.

It is only a draw, but it's just 3 points between us and Villa who sit in 4th, with Arsenal lurking just 6 points back in 5th.

A couple more games that we must win and we don't, means we will start dropping down the table very, very fast.
