Looks like just about the strongest team which is available to the manager to me, if obviously we are going to play 4-4-2. I personally would have gone with Agger for Hyppia, but it ought to make no odds as we should be on the front foot for most of the match.

The selection probably reflects the importance of the result, we really do need to win this one and so the 4-5-1 and any "wait and see" elements to our set-up are very likely going to be ditched. Without getting into previous selections, how often people have played recently etc it's one that I have no problem with. FWIW if we get a positive result and performace it'd be quite nice if we stuck with broadly this line up (but not the same team in every single game obviously) going forward.

Whichever way you look at it, we are almost certainly going to have to win a large proportion of our next six or seven matches. Setting up from the outset in a really positive way is probably a good idea. I hope two things happen with Keane. Firstly that he puts all previous behind him both in terms of form and the selection/substitution policy, and pulls his finger out of his erse. Secondly, if he does play well and particularly if he scores two goals, I hope we give the age old ploy of playing him in the next match a try.

Hypia starts as he's been in top form this month or so and cahill is strong in the air , we will need hypia as he's dangerous from set pieces and very strong in the air as well

You are always having a sneaky one with Xabi, you would be better with a clever one with Torres.
