I have a Jack too. And a cat. They are best mates, but the Jack - who is called Jack - bullies the cat, but never harms him.

I'm not too fond of cats. However, if one day you cat haters wake up and find a dirty stinking b@stard of a rat giving you the eyeball from across your back yard into your kitchen, you'll quickly find the idea of a cat a lot more appealing. They are fantastic little predators and keep the vermin at bay. Anyone who keeps a cat for the sole purpose as just company in the house is an eejit. A cat has to earn its stay, and that's by protecting the house and surroundings from rats, otherwise it's a useless, smelly b@stard.

Rat problem?

No rat problem.  :D

Bad Bob wrote:Our cat rocks but that's because, he's big, fat and just can't be a.rsed getting into any sh!t.  Was looking after the neighbours cats this past fortnight while they were on vacation and it was a nightmare.  Every single day one of the little feckers either puked, sh!t or p!ssed somewhere they weren't suppose to.  Their people obviously knew this would be a possibility, so they put plastic over all the furniture.  No bother for these little sh!tbags, though--they went to the trouble of pulling the plastic off the back of the couch before puking all over it.  Narsty! :no

I will say this about cats, though--they've got personality.  Too many dogs have had all manner of intelligence bred right out of them.  All they do is follow you around like a slobbering idiot.  It's like having the slow kid at school take a shine to you. :D

I think it depends which breed you get mate.

I have an English Springer gun dog. He's more intelligent than most on here!

To give an example; We give him the run of the landing, stairs, hallway and kitchen when we are out. We shut the 2 doors to the living room at this point.

Well one day, he obviously smelt the biscuit tin in the living room. He opened one door, shutting it behind him. Scoffed the biscuits, then went out of the other door, shutting THAT behind him.

That he had hidden the empty packet in his bed was a futile attempt to cover his tracks, due to the fact his tabs were covered in crumbs by the time I returned...

can't do that here, lando. People would think the ceasefire is being broken. There's a few rats I'd love to shoot with one of those called politicians.
