GYBS wrote:isnt it best now just to wait and see what happens now ? We can speculate all we want but no one knows the truth . And stu im sorry but barton is a thug , yeah he may of been getting loads of shi t from someone so that explains giving someone a punch , but to carry on the attack while the guy is on the floor is the act of a cowardly thug and can never be condoned . Words are just words but constant physical violence is a different matter . If you think barton was right then that just shows what sort of person you are and i hope you wouldnt do the same in the same situation .

If someone had a go at me I'd have a go back. You can't be a coward these days, kicking someone after you've floored them is low, but these days you don't want to risk them getting up and pulling a knife or gun out on you. People reep what they sow, if you're going to go out looking for a fight, you're going to get kicked while you're on the deck, i have no sympathy for it. You either walk away, or fight. They're the options. If you decide to fight you finish it. Simple as that.

I've never in my life gone out looking for a fight, infact, I've not started a fight since I was in school and never would. But if anyone has a go I'll defend myself and i'll be quite aggressive in doing so.

THEN a few minutes later defend that clip of Barton battering some fella by saying...you never heard what he said!

If her upbringing was bad yours must have been a hell of a lot worse!
Hypocrite!

I was talking about common assault, not a dirty tackle.

I defended the right to retaliate to someone abusing your family. Something most MEN would do Barry. Not something I'd expect a mouthy little drunk like you to understand...

Now just swap the situation around if Steve had been attacked by 6 geezers (even if he was being a knób) then we would be calling for 20 years for all of them.

My son idolises Steve and his name is on the back of all my shirts but we can't lok at this thru rose tinted glasses, as i said how would you react if it was the other way around.

Still it's a big IF, regarding if he actually did anything

your spot on mate, and if he had done it the club should also take a stand.

Ah he's not a f.ucking superhero, he did something wrong so fecking what

Oh no stevies a bad bad boy

He'll pay the consequences for whatever he's done an thats that

Liverpool FC Statement on Steven Gerrard:

"Liverpool Football Club today pledged its full support to skipper Steven Gerrard following the events of the past 48 hours.
A statement from the club said: "Steven has been an outstanding servant to Liverpool for the last 10 years and the club will give him all the support he needs at this time."

You bunch of numpties - this is how you support your own ay  ppl in the public eye are subject to extraordinary abuse and grief - totally uncalled for.

Steven Gerrard is our superhero, as close as they come and at this time, when all and sundry will want him to 'fall' our club and we as supporters must stand  by him - END OFF.

I'm proud that LIVERPOOL FC have come out with such a no-nonsense statement !

Support Steven Gerrard - our Captain Fantastic :buttrock

Michael Fish is the weather guy who once said 'if you've heard there's a hurricane on the way, don't worry, there isn't' or words to that effect, and there actually was a storm that killed loads of people. Dunno if that rings any bells

not reacting to a bunch of words and walking away isnt being a coward , thats showing yourself to be the better man stu . Simple as that . Using violence no matter what is a cowards way . Yeah if you get smacked for no reason what so ever then you have a right to defend yourself but not to the extreme . Putting someone on the ground then carrying on is low and wrong . Defend yourself then walk away nice and simple or dont get yourself into the situation in the first place . Takes a bigger person to ignore abuse no matter what . I have had plenty of abuse in the past in the middle east or in this country just cause im in the military and have found it easy enough to walk away and leave the person giving the abuse looking the fool .
