DISCLAIMER- I do know that if you play football at a higher level, such things are important. I'm simply saying that when you play for the Dog and Duck reserves, they aren't.

I buzz of it when lads go on about the pitch or what boots should they were etc!

Just :censored: wear ya studs, shut ya gob, :censored: the rain an play. If ya :censored:, stop lookin for excuses.

I never needed excuses because I am the bollox. :D

:D @ the highlighted part.

But on the disclaimer, in the place you played when you were a bloke, was it always a green pitch?

That is, did you encounter things like this?

I don't remember that one...

What did I say about Earnshaw aswell? I can't ever remember arguing with you if am honest. (not saying I haven't, just that you aren't important enough to remember) :D

I remember the Danny Gabbidon one though, some jokers thought he was boss... that wasn't you was it? :D

It was me in a moment of patriotic fervour   He was a huge favourite at Upton Park but I fear that injuries has finished him off.

Although I draw the line with Robbie Savage in fact I used to pray that he got discovered for not being welsh

Fecking hell Sabre you fed him that line mate   :D

In answer to Sabre it wasn't so much about the pitch being green, the "moldeds" were for the start of the season when the ground was rock hard. More studs equalled less blisters. At county level with the kids some of the lads had them astro turf boots as well for when it was icy, but it was a load of old b0ll0cks if you asked me. I didn't even clean mine, never did whatever level I played at. That and having a bet are the two things me and Steve Claridge have in common.

My Dad always said a pair of football boots don't make a footballer, and while I now accept and realise this was simply a cunning ruse on his part to allow him to buy me Woolworth's homebrand (Winfield as I recall) up to me being 13, there was some truth in what he said. It didn't stop me though from picking up a decent pair when I got older, although I never reached a high enough level to get boxes of free pairs which was a bit of a blow.

I loved footie boots and rugby boots when I was a kid and I felt really grown up when I had my first pair with studs that you could unscrew.

But astroturf boots in the ice, no way thats asking for trouble

GYBS wrote:i do find it amazing that at a time where we are finally challenging for the title and according to our own captain 'the best squad he has seen at the club ' that people can still slag of the manager and the players . Whatever rafas methods are and for whatever reason they are working and thats without the best striker in the world and after stuffing newcastle at their own place , the same newcastle the mancs nor chelsea could not beat  . Players are stepping up when required , we are grinding out results when required , yes we are dropping silly points but teams below us are doing worse . We all wanted to challenge and we are doing that so what is the problem ? For years and years liverpool fans backed the players , backed the manager but that seems to have changed over the years . Im lucky enough to know the fagan family very well and in their words their dad and grandad ie joe would think rafa is the perfect man for the job . Do people expect too much ? Do people think too much about rotation etc ? In my eyes yes on both accounts , we should all be loving the occasion at the moment and putting all our efforts into supporting our club players and manager , thats what has made us the great club it is . Believe we can win , dont sit there expecting the manager to mess things up just so he can prove he is the boss . Rafa does want he thinks is best for the club and will continue to do so to the best of his and his players abilities and at the moment that has us sitting at the top of the table with our best chance in years of claiming the title . Youll never walk alone is our motto and it is for a reason . YNWA

Completely missing the point of the thread as usual. :no

The point is, so what, if some of us don't blindly follow Rafa's stupidity. We're entitled to voice what we would do in the situation or what we think or in some cases know what is best for the club and certain players. This thread has nothing to do with whether you think Rafa's right or wrong.

Alot of the "abuse" I dish out from a personal point is when people start with me OR they come back with pathetic arguements, you know the sort, the childish ones, well why aren't you a manager, well it obviously worked so he was right, well nothing else matters because i want to bum :censored: Rafa or quite simply when people go round in circles on points you've already clearly covered and completely fail to grasp the issue.

The other thing that grates me is nerve dropping and a lack of intelligence.

All of which traits you show in more or less every post you make.

I come here to talk football. Some people don't like being told they don't have a clue, the ones that don't will be told. Simple as that.

stu,

bob has just said in his thread opener to ignore the poster etc, and you start with a personal attack on GYBS, which is what bob didnt want.  f'ucking hell man.
whenever gybs posts anything, you start going off on one.

by my reckoning you are clueless to what this thread meant stu

No judge, I understand it clearly. It wasn't a personal attack what so ever, the only thing I said was he shown the traits I described on numorous occassions which is a fact.

And why should I ignore a point raised if I feel it worth commenting on? Its a forum for gods sake!

ok, carry on

Speaking of boots, I've a pair of Robbie Keane's old boots that was given to me and used to wear playing for a side years ago. I hope they haven't been chucked out.

the clicky clacky sound they made as you walked across the concrete to the pitch was what it was all about. once i was making that sound i just knew i'd arrived.
