Newcastle vs liverpool

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby maypaxvobiscum » Fri Dec 26, 2008 8:20 pm

the last time we faced Newcastle on this exact day was at Anfield in 2005 where Michael Owen returned to the sound of merciless boos and we won 2-0 with goals from Gerrard and Crouch

we go into this match with a 1 point advantage over Chelsea who will be facing Fulham away, Manure are facing Boro the next day at Old Twatford. we desperately need a win as if we lose, both 2 teams could climb above us once they play their games in hand.

Fabio Aurelio could also return but Alvaro Arbeloa is likely to remain out with a hamstring injury.

This fixture last season saw Liverpool win to a 3-0 win courtesy of goals from Gerrard, Kuyt and Babel

Martins might return for the Toons after his injury.
Beye is injured for them though after today's match.

Skertel and Torres could return as they are gaining full fitness.

we could win 1-2 but im unsure as our players might be tired...and we rocked at Bolton but surely Rafa being Rafa will change his tactics and go for the defensive with Kuyt on the right and Keane alone upfront. it is said that Mash is gonna be back in the team though.

anyway not related but Sebastian Leto just scored a solo goal here

I don't know why but I always feel comfortable going into this game, last year we won it comfortably and this year I expect more of the same. No point in rushing Nando back if he is not ready.

2-0 Keane and Kuyt

You can compose your own efforts beforehand somewhere offline. Doesn't have to be written up straight after the last game in a hurried fashion....there is scope for using your imagination here as opposed to submitting a half hearted attempt. Do some research (like you mentioned) - add something from your personal opinion on the matter...your input, not someone else's soundbites.

I'm trying to be economical with my criticism here - its not only you that falls into this category. Generally, it is accepted (anticipated) that the opening post is 'provocative' enough to generate its own discussion as a result. Granted, the situation is going to be a lot easier to develop when the match in question is against a rival...or a big European tie. Nonetheless, a lot of us like to hear the thoughts of others expressed in a way that can encourage healthy debate - that is something which has taken a back seat by and large of late. It would be a shame to continue the trend.

Anhow - there is my point made. Try and be a little more 'expansive' is all I'm saying.

Fuc'king little tool!

High flying Liverpool Football Club at the pinnacle of the premier league in what is a toughly contested and unpredictable showdown  travel to St James Park.
There is no doubt that Newcastle can do better, the question is will they perform against LFC?
The other question is will LFC perform?Fernando Torres will play a bit part if any,but all eyes are on Liverpools "new boy" Robbie Keane! Can he keep the goals flowing .or will it be stalemate a St James Park!
That was shi'te but better than nufin! :D

Would love to see us play this team but it depends who's fit/suspended.

                                              Reina

                              Carragher  Skertle  Agger  Insua

                            Gerrard   Alonso  Mascherano  Reira

                                         Keane
                                                  Torres

No chance though.

I'm the opposite but I live in Newcastle so that's probably why I'm a bit skeptical going into this game.

Having just lost 2:1 to Wigan today I expect Newcastle to have a go against us on Sunday, maybe with Owen due a goal against us.

I'm going to go for 3:1 Gerrard, Keane and Xabi with Owen scoring for them

Just read Viduka and Beye were injured during the game, Enrique during the warm up and Bassong was sent off
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

yeah i reckon we will win this one 2-0. Can't really see newcastle breaking through our defence. They have scored 15 goals at home but tend to concede goals aswel. 12 conceded. Will be a tough match. Maybe torres will get a little run it. common you reds.
