Everyone has an addiction of some sort. They might not realize it, but they are there. We are all essentially creatures of habit.

As for the net, it's killed a lot of things that once upon a time made me a happier person. I don't mean that in any sort of apathetic manner, I mean there are certain things attached with nostalgia that the internet is guilty of taking away. For example, when I was a kid I remember waiting a month or so for the latest news on computer games, as I was into those in a big way when I was growing up. It was a simple pleasure and excitement of having to wait for the next big issue of a magazine showing off the next big thing. It was like you counted down the days, and then it came out on the shelves and every month was sort of like Christmas getting your hands on something exciting to read. People who were the same will know what I'm talking about. The internet came along and it basically killed off a lot of publications. Now it's just all too convenient to click a mouse and see what's going on. The more something is available, the less exciting and pleasurable it is when you get your hands on it, although even that has it's pros and cons.

Kids today are growing up around the net, so it will be second nature to them. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing. I'm leaning towards bad, though.

Remember when we used to have homework, essays and all that. we had to actually do some work, go to a library... now, they just plagiarize it all... you can't learn that way. Which is why there are more morons now than ever.

Depends. I see your point, though; but in all truth most work is plagiarism to an extent. There's something more connective to the soul (if you believe in that sort of thing) to pick up a book, the original form of media used for centuries, and feel it in your hands and read it. It's a similar thing to art work. It's fine looking at it on a computer screen, but there's nothing quiet like having an actual physical piece as the artist intended sitting in front of you. You can smell it, touch it if permitted, and look at it as the artist seen it with his own eyes when creating it. The internet replaces all of these senses with a false sense of being.

Einstein believed to be truly original, then one shouldn't read or look at any kind of media whatsoever.
