well that means he must of being playing well above himself this season as he has been more than average consistently so far this season .

I totally agree GYBS things look really good at the moment specially with lucas and bable playing well and looking lively midweek, our squad suddenly looks stronger.

We need torres back and for the odd few who are underperforming, to some extent, to step up to the mark. Keane will come good, Arbeloa is solid, doesnt set things a light but performs ok and above most week. Dossena must have some quality in him and I hope he starts improving, he looked ok on tuesday. Degan isnt garbage either. Jesus give the lads a bit of time, they cant be worldy's straight away unless we pay 20mill, and even then you cant gaurantee it.

Our midfield is world class, if we can use some youngsters as lesser squad players (i dont know enough about ti to know if we have decend lads coming thru) then I feel we could sell pennant and mayb yossi to buy in a better right sided player. Kuyt has done a good job, but i feel we lack option on the right when we play 442.

We could play garrard there and have masch, alonso in the centre but i dont like seeing gerrard out there because, although he could change/influence a game if he was at left backi love seeing him thru the middle.

Glen johnsen, Miguel at Valencia and even Eboue would all be a reasonable price and better than Arbeloa

Glen johnson would be a great buy. Dont like Eboue, cheating :censored:. Need to have a scout arund before i give my choice of right sided midfielder. What price range do you think we can afford GYBS, you seem clued in on this type of stuff.

well i expect you would have to pay 10 mil for johnson , miguel expect the same amount of money - wouldnt want eboue anywhere near liverpool .

i expect for a right back rafa woudl spend around 5 - 8 mil .

Back to the point of the thread anyway...... Mascherano is fantastic, i love the guy, even forgiven him for his red againt scum. Looking back on that, it just shows his passion and drive, hopefully Rafa has got inside his head and cut the crazy part out of him, not too much tho I hope.

Ihink Masch and Alonso have been different class this season, I'd take both of them over the other big guns who play that position in the PL....

Was good to see him get the armband the other night aswell, I presume of hypia or alonso were on the pitch they would have got it before him tho.

Valenica are almost bankrupt they would bight our hands off for £5mil for Miguel, also id take Glen Johnsen at £10 mil, im sure we could raise that with a few sales

10million for Johnson, puts me off a little, but he is looking good this year.

Id rather speand 10mill on the right of midfield than right back... but 10mill wouldnt been enough to buy the type of player we need to actally improve our midfield rather than just shuffling around average players

and who do we sell to raise the funds to get these players ? valencia maybe skint but they arent mugs and not going to sell their players on the cheap esp when they are playing well at the moment .

On revista da liga the other night, they were saying that Valencia are clost to administration which means that have to take almost anything for a player a bit like leeds a few years ago, so im sure they will be accepting any reasonable offers for players in January. Portsmouth are also up for sale, so who knows they could be selling players soon as well so maybe Johnsen could be cheaper than £10mil.

As for players to sell, we have plenty of squad players barely getting a game who can go.

but to raise fifteen million we would need to sell players like voronin, pennant, benayoun rather than the real squad plaeyers that rarely play and are in the resies.

Dont think rafa will sell benayoun either, hes isnt that bad really and has had some good games for us but id be OK with him leaving if it meant buying valencia etc.

Rafa may get a 5mill present from the idiots in charge tho which would make things easier, but i doubt it.

we only need one right back, so im sure even those two twits running the club can raise £5mil for Rafa, and we can sell one or two?

weve gone way off topic now, Mascha for president  :D

To be honest, we shouldn't need him in the side on Saturday in a game in which we'll dominate possession anyway.

Share similar feelings hear. I think the Olympics set him back at the start and he hasn't gotten into the flow totally, and his form wasn't what it was last year and its less consistent (much like how often he plays).  I think another thing that hurts Mascherano is the Torres injuries. WHy? Without torres in the side, we need everything else to be more attacking and in a 4-4-2 masch and gerrard aren't enough, especially against premier league teams at home. Plus accounting for the resurgent form of Alonso, and all of a sudden there isn't a place for Mascherano.  I am going to have to double check, but I don't think we have started a game that has  included ALL of : Mascherano, Alonso, Gerrard, Torres, and Keane.

One of the most frustrating things about Mascherano is when he gets going on those surging runs he can never pick out the killer through pass to undo the defense. I realize this isn't the easiest thing to do, especially for someone who specializes in a differnet area of the game, but thats all he would need to reach another level of footballing because sometimes when he gets going at top speed with the ball at his feet he looks a little bit like Messi when he is on the break, until of course he just runs out of space or passes it out to touch or to the opposition.
