Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I think some of us were a bit harsh towards Dudek. I don't want to critisize him for the goal Anelka scored, because Anelka DID push his knee against Dudek's back which was a little dirty trick Anelka used against his former club, I am pretty sure that Dudek would had gotten to the ball before Anelka.

Also the goal when we played Spurs was more the defence's fault than Dudek's, if you look back at the game two or three players didn't clear the ball and Defoe took that chance and scored.

All goalkeepers make mistakes in their careers its part of football. I was watching the EPL Preview Show, and every goalkeeper in Saturday's and Sunday's games have made mistakes that led to a goal.

Did anybody see the mistake made by the Ports. goalkeeper? It was funny yet sad and pathetic at the same time and Arsenal's goalkeeper was just horrid, imagine if every player who shoot on goal outside of the box beat Dudek and scored, we would be in a bad situation, but if Dudek's weakness is the near post the tighten up the defence.

We shouldn't be critisizing our players after every game. As Dalglish here said "We make a villian out of somebody after every game" and we shouldn't be doing that, I understand that you all get angry when a player makes a mistake but I do to but that doesn't mean that we should slate our players so much.

we see his slip-ups a bit too often not to criticise him. he lacks concentration and drops easy balls a lot like against manure at old trafford. he is one of the best shot stoppers in the game but he must improve his concentration if we are to do well this season

I'm sure he can prove, Rafa believes that he can otherwise he wouldn't be here at the moment. Dudek has redeemed himself in the past and he can do it again.

While im rather amazed at some of the negative comments about players i do realise that a lot of the flak is pretty kneejerk as people use this forum to vent their frustations etc. Some people just arent happy if they dont have something to moan about though in saying that you do need to have a balance. It would be a pretty boring forum if it was just cheerleading

i cant argue that he hasn't redeemed himself before but then he always seems to lose his mind a few games later and make another stupid mistake. kirkland keps breaking into the team and then getting injured which means we'll need to keep dudek. he is a good player and he can win matches with some of his saves(like against newcastle last year in fa cup) but has to improve his concentration

I agree and I am sure that Rafa has probably told that to Dudek. Plus it is the beginning of a new season lets just see is he can improve.

If he lets in soft goals every week, of course he's going to be criticised.

He should not have been beaten at his near post against Spurs, and he was a right nunce to let Anelka steal in on goal like that.

We're not going to challenge for titles with a keeper like Dudek. Baros and Gerrard are not going to get him out of trouble every week by scoring freely.

He's a weak link and the sooner Kirkland is brought in, the better. Dudek is accident prone, gives up soft goals and needs a nose job.

I criticised him very harsly in the thread during half-time of the Man City game. I agree that he is a very good shot stopper, just that he is very prone to these kinds of lapses and if we had a top class European opposition, it would sertainly mean curtains after gifting such goals.

he needs to tighten up and play with more consistency.

One thing that winds me up about Dudek is when their is an opportunity to break and instead of throwing it out to the open player he holds his hand up to say sorry and lets the opposition back ready to defend, he does it all the time

Apart from that if he just sorted his concerntration out I'm happy for him to stay at Anfield :)

I hope he hit's top form coz i recon he's a quality keeper, Kirkland can't seem to stay free from injury for any legnth of time :( so i wouldn't rely on him.

Rodney Marsh picked up on this couple of weeks back as well.

I watched him on Saturday, and he was a bit quicker, but not quick enough to prevent Man City getting players behind ball.

The world cup seemed to destroy his confidence and if Kirkland wasnt injury prone Dudek would be number two.

Rodney Marsh talks sense.

I've noticed that alot about Liverpools style and i've also noticed the improvement under Benitez.

Dudek on form is the best in the prem, no question. In his first season he was outstanding. Since then though he's not looked the same player.
