Babel looks far more confident and has more raw ability as a striker at the moment than Keane. Keane works hard but gets into a lot of weird positions plus why the hell is he constantly back in deep midfield and then wondering why he is not scoring goals. A lot of times today you saw Keane and Babel almost swapping positions and that is when Liverpool actually created some drive going forwards.
I don't blame Babel for wanting to move on but I guarantee we will rue it if he does.

spot on mate, common sense finnaly. Keane was actually on the left wing at the start of the season alittle bit. We must not let this jewel out of our hands. He will mature, skills and ability are not in question, fantastic player. Nanny don`t say me `Babel is not everything about Liverpool`,cause this is Ryan`s thread

Are you Dutch by any chance?  ???

No,I am not dutch. He is good footballer for me...
Dirk Kuyt too,but these two have been out of position for ages!

let me get this straight now... babel is NO striker... he's one of those funny creatures that the dutch invented...a wide forward...

now stop arguing whether he's a striker or a winger cause he's neither...  :D

Was pretty much his Liverpool career summed up in one game last night. Some really good things, some really bad.

BTW the shot that everyone is talking about was not that far off target, would you guys have been moaning at Riera if his shot hadn't gone in??

Okay, let me ask you this.  Were you screaming at the telly when Kuyt failed to play Gerrard in on the counter against West Ham?  I bet you were and it was the exact same situation last night--Keane running in behind the defender and all he needs is a simple ball into space and he's clear through on goal.  It's a much more promising chance than trying to blaze one in from outside the box.  Whether Babel sort of came close or whether Keane might have missed is irrelevant.  It's about picking the right option at a key moment of the game--and, once again, Babel failed to do so.  And before you start about Riera's goal, he took it on because, in that instance, it was the best option.

Spot on..

His goal was excellent and although (as pointed out several times here) he did beat some players last night it was never in an area where he could cause a threat.

I don't understand these people who keep saying he is really skillful.  I just dont see it. More often than not he gives the ball away due to making a bad decision.

I'm not going to say he will not improve but for me his problems are not really to do with his football but more what goes on in his head and by that I mean his attitude, his decison making on the pitch and the fact he seems to think when he is surrounded by 3 defenders he can beat them all rather than pass to the nearest red shirt.
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

and of all people for it to hurt, it had to be our already inconfident, struggling striker.

the game was tied at 1-1 and he went for glory instead of a ball to Keane. those are the types of decisions which one will regret if we ended up losing 2-1 or 3-1.

was a game tied 1-1 only for the class of babel and lucuc rest of team didn't look like scoring for a month of sundays.  :shifty

the goal probably boosted his confidence a lot. would have loved a goal for keane also and i was jumping on my feet and cursing when babel didn't play keane in.
but i didn't like the way keane vented. a word with babel would have been better than doing what he did.

Wow I can't disagree any more with you, I thought Babel, with the exception of the CB's was one of our best players and created a lot of movement in the side, he was dribbling past players and was confident.

I really don't understand how blinkered you guys are sometimes. I know I used to slag Kuyt off but when he improved and became effective I was one of the first to say so, now it's time for you guys to grow up a bit and give credit where credit due, Babel's goal was class and his contribution yesterday was excellent, ok he missed a few passes but he probably knew in the back of his mind that both Eggnog and Keane would probably have arsed up the chances anyway. If anyone needed a word it was Keane for his constant winging and the fact that he was constantly out of bloody position, £20 million :no

you are one of few people on here that I can tell has played football and knows the in's and out's of it well said.

I can also see you know about the demands of football too.

You clearly know this unlike so called others posters who just spout :censored::)

If Babel goes on loan it should be an English team as prerequisite

He won't go on laon rafa needs him we need him more so with a very demanding 2nd half of season to come.

No way we have the money to replace him just for 5 months of football.

I would agree with the points raised about Babel's decision making at times and other criticisms but you can't possibly judge a player based on a bit part role.

Rafa is stifiling Babel's progress by insisting on picking Kuyt even when plays cack.

Kuyt isn't that good that he has to play every game.

I'll be backing Babel until he has been given a real chance to prove himself like Kuyt.

Cheers, it's good to find a bit more sanity on this forum, lately it's gone very very rose tinted but also with these weird attacks on up and coming players like Babel and glorification of fairly bad players like Lucas. It's all very confusing  :Oo:
