That's just brilliant. I'm in the process of cancelling everything I had planned for that day so I can go.
However, according to AFC Wimbledon's website, the bidding is actually to play in a celebs and fans game, which is taking place after the main event...

Weird and Wonderful rematch
Get out your diaries and turn to Sunday 12 September. If there’s anything on that day, cancel it!
That’s when we’ll be restaging the famous Crazy Gang v Culture Club 1988 FA Cup final here at Kingsmeadow with an invitational 60-minute 11-a-side game forming the centrepiece of a day of celebration to mark the glorious history of Wimbledon FC that lives on in AFC Wimbledon.
It’s Wimbledon v Liverpool all over again.
Representing Liverpool will be John Aldridge, Steve McMahon, Jan Molby, Nigel Spackman and Ray Houghton. The Dons will have John Scales, Clive Goodyear, Andy Thorn, Alan Cork, Lawrie Sanchez and Terry Gibson.
Also at Kingsmeadow will be players and managers from the last six decades of Wimbledon’s history. Around 60 are expected. They include: from the fifties, Derek Holyoake, John Martin and Ron Wootton; from the sixties, Roy Law, Geoff Hamm, Norman Williams and Les Brown; from the seventies, Dickie Guy, Allen Batsford, Ian Cooke, Jeff Bryant, Mick Mahon and Roger Connell; from the eighties – as well as the Cup Final side, Wally Downes, Steve Ketteridge, Mick Smith, John Leslie, Andy Sayer and Paul Fishenden; and from the nineties, Efan Ekoku, Marcus Gayle, Paul McGee, Robbie Earle, Terry Burton, Kevin Cooper (the first one) and Warren Barton.
There’ll also be an additional match featuring celebrities and supporters. Fans of both Wimbledon and Liverpool will be able to bid for the chance to play in that match and be profiled in the programme alongside a host of celebrities including Frank Skinner, Jonathan Ross, Radio 1’s DJ Spoony, members of Westlife, plus stars of TV’s Eastenders and The Bill. These teams will be managed by AFC Wimbledon legends Trigger and Kevin Cooper (the second one).
Bids can be made for individual shirt numbers and must be sent by email, along with contact details, to bids@thedonstrust.org. You can check here for the latest bidding or ask at the Dons Trust gazebo opposite the main turnstile on matchdays. The closing date is Saturday 4 September.
Tickets are £10 for the terrace, £12 main stand seating and concessions only for under-16s at half price. President’s Lounge tickets are also available for £30. Subject to availability, tickets can be bought on the day but we recommend getting them in advance. TO apply by post, send an SAE, along with your cheque made payable to The Dons Trust, to:
Weird and Wonderful Rematch
The Fans’ Stadium – Kingsmeadow
Jack Goodchild Way
422a Kingston Road
Kingston upon Thames
Surrey
KT1 3PB
Tickets will also be on sale at the stadium on the evening of Thursday 2 September and at the AFC Wimbledon FA Cup match on Saturday 4 September.
The day starts at 12 noon and the gates open at 1pm, with a 2pm kick-off. Come on down and make a day of it, joining in the fun here at The Fans’ Stadium - Kingsmeadow. Proceeds from this event will be put into the ring-fenced Stadium Fund managed by The Dons Trust. A donation will also be made to the fund for the victims of the Hillsborough disaster.
