Playing time or not ,the lad has to prove himself like everyone else and so far this season he's been pretty gash . Knuckle down and fight for a place or feck off . The same goes for everyone else i'm afraid . We are challenging for the title ,so the least passengers we have in the team the better .

Babel is one of those players who will only improve overall if you give him time on the pitch. The problem I have is that he hasn't done a great deal to justify a regular place in the team. I rate him above Benayoun and Pennant but I feel like he needs to take his first team chances more.

Babel Ajax return denied

9 December 2008 | 21:53 - PA Sport

Ryan Babel's agent claims the Liverpool winger has failed in a bid to engineer a loan move back to Ajax.

Babel moved from the Amsterdammers to Liverpool in July 2007 but has been unable to hold down a regular starting place at Anfield.

He has made 17 appearances in all competitions this season but the majority of those have come off the bench.

According to his agent Winnie Haatrecht, the 21-year-old would relish a temporary return to the Netherlands  in January but Liverpool dismissed the possibility out of hand.

"Ryan finds that he sits on the bench too much at Liverpool, he wants to play more and asked me to see if Ajax were interested in a temporary return," Haatrecht told Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf today.

"After we got an enthusiastic reaction from Ajax, we asked Liverpool for their co-operation but the club don't want to see him go.

"Rafael Benitez finds Ryan too important. Hopefully we will see that in more playing time.

"Let's be clear: Ryan feels great at Liverpool, but for him to develop further he needs to get playing time."

which is true but if he wants to suceed at a big club and be a big player in the future for holland or wherever he ends up he has to play at a big club now, learn from rafa and develop which is what hes doing.

He needs to realise hes onto a winner at liverpool and should relish the challenge. hes young and foolish probably, he will b find and will hopefully be a great asset to us for the next few years.

Rafa needs to decide where is his bet position to help him bed in tho...

Good performance today, but what a selfish little :censored: at times.  I still don't see why we shouldn't sell him to Madrid for 15mil though, maybe we can even bump the price up a bit.  We can get a better player than Babel for that much money.

It's true though, he is young and can develop in a player but maybe he should do that somewhere else or accept the fact he will have to do it for us on the bench coming in as a sub.

So its a team, and we need someone to cover that position, not striker.  We have the worlds best striker already, and its not Babel.  So if he cant play that position, why should the team not sell the player to get someone he needs to play in that position?

Its a team game.

Keane was annoying with the hand motions, but some were justified.  Babel could of played him through, and confidence or not at that point and time we needed a goal (1-1 at the moment, 2nd seed).  Instead he chose to be greedy.  But if he did score, it would of been one hell of a goal.

I agree but surely a player of keanes exp should know babel has had even a harder ride this season then he has and hasn't babel score more goals in what a 10th of the time keane has had.

Imo keane doesn't have the right to be shaking his head at a young lad that is out performing him.

Also runs are not always made ot take a pass infact both of those times keane took players with him on those runs and i feel the pass wouldn't have got a goal as he didn't have pace to make it count.
