the canon ixus are great cameras that take great pictures. they give you plenty of manual options too so you can really work with it to get the photo you want. problem is though that each one has had the lens fukk up on it after about a year. i won't be getting another one...

personal experience...

Sony - wouldn't touch 'em with a barge pole. Over rated and not very reliable.
Samsung - never had one.
fuji finepix - had 3, wouldn't have another.

don't disregard the Casio cameras though. My lass has a Exilim Z77 in silver, the battery ife is great and the picture quality is excellent. using the camera is easy and tis a thin one so it would sit in ya pocket well. Also has a big screen...
