Alot of the talk pre-fight was obviously the size difference but it was a friend of mine that mentioned the effects moving down weights can have on a fighter and tipped Pacman to have the edge (needless to say I received an "I told you so" msg about 5:30 this morning) De La Hoya walks around at a naturally lean weight of 160lb. He came in at 145lb. Thats losing over a stone of natural muscle. Its not like Hatton who puts on fat, stored energy, and simply burns it off training to get down to his natural weight of 140lb. I think the Golden Boy could have another big performance in him - but at 35 and already a very wealthy man and now the biggest promoter in the fight game its difficult to see how he can lift himself for another gruelling training regime and marquee bout. The other thing is who is there for him to fight? Hatton now seems a more logical opponant for Pacquiao next summer and there is not really a big name out there at welter weight. Strange how he is classed as one of the best fighters of his generation but every time he stepped up to fight a really top name in the last 10 years he came up short.

Which is exactly why I was on at 15/8, was always gonna happen, but will be different with Ricky, he'll take him out

Is right an all Daws :nod

If the fight does come off with Ricky i am deffo there

Havent seen the fight yet as i wasnt paying box office for Amir Khan - the only reason the de la hoya fight was on PPV was because warren had signed Khan up for box office before his last fight when he was ko'd. So to get us to pay they put it on the same night as the de la hoya fight that would of been free usually with no brit involved  :no

Anyway i was also shocked this morning when i seen the result and how emphatic it was meant to be, i also though Oscar would be too big for him.
If they can get Hatton and pacman on in Wembley now that would be mouthwatering as they both just love a tear up.
Would be hard to call but i am biased so would go with Hatton due to the fact that he is naturally bigger and hits pretty hard at the weight and is also relentless, once he seizes control in a fight he doesnt often allow the other fighter back in, he is a master at demoralising an opponent through the sheer pace he fights at.

On a seperate note watched the Froch fight which was a cracker, i dont like Froch he is thinks he is far better than what he is but fair play to the two of them last night they stood toe to toe for the majority of the fight and it was great to watch. Both took some real big shots and didnt go down.
Thought the judges were harsh on Pascal the margin it was given by as most rounds could of gone either way but fair play to Froch for his guts and determination.
He has called out Calzaghe but Joe would imo make a show of him with the speed of his combinations and the way Froch is so upright with hardly any guard most of the time.

Ace i ever paid a penny  next time a big fight is on watch it on the internet. The pic was quality aswell. Same streams that the footie is on.

Im a big fan of Oscar but it was so sad to see to be honest he didnt know were he was half the time. I gave every round to Pacquiao. An was willing De La Hoya not to come out from the 6th.

I watched the fight and I thought Froch was awful. The guy just wasn't boxing at all. He was like a mummy, stood flatfooted, trying to land bombs. I thought Pascal was the much better boxer, but he just seemed to lose heart after round 6. I don't think Calzaghe would fight him, but if he did, Froch wouldn't stand a chance.

I love Ricky Hatton to death but I really hope that he doesn't fight Pacquiao because he'll get eaten alive. If this guy can do what he did to De La Hoya, Hatton needs to steer well clear.

Disagree completly . De la Hoya hadnt fought for ages an about 3-4 years since hed fought a southpaw.

If they both fought at 140 i think Hatton would batter him to to strong an clever. Pacquiro would not go the distance imo Hatton would knock him out.

Im praying this fight comes off an its in the uk. Pref at the O2 if anyone listening

If Hatton stayed in shape between fights then he would have a chance. Is Mayweather Snr still his trainer?

I was so gutted Khan won. Guys so cocky he thinks hes a Prince Naseem!

I agree, i havent seen the fight still but me mate watched it and i have been arguin with him since as he also reckons Hatton would get battered.
I said no chance, pacman fought De La Hoya at exactly the right time, he has hardly fought and has lost something like four out of his last 6 fights, his speed seems to have gone and that would of made a major difference.

I think Hatton is a lot stronger than people give him credit for and also relentless if someone stands in front of him which pacquaio probably would.

Hatton all the way for me, and am praying that they make this fight happen.

Pacquiao won because he was going up in weight, but Hoya was coming down. Hoya looked knakcered and weak, he came down too quick. The same won't happen with Hatten, who is now a much more intelligent fighter, so would be a great match up...
And I'd have to Price Hatten as a 4/7 fav with Pacquiao around 2s

Boxing - Seven-times world champion Marco Antonio Barrera of Mexico will fight Olympic silver medallist Amir Khan on March 14 at an unconfirmed British venue, promoter and the Briton's manager Frank Warren said on his website (www.frankwarren.tv).
Barrera, 34, who has won world titles at three different weights, fought once last year, recording a fourth-round knockout of Sammy Ventura in China in November to extend his record to 64-6.
Lightweight Khan (19-1), recorded a second-round knockout of Irishman Oisin Fagan last month, his first fight since suffering an opening-round knockout defeat by Colombian Breidis Prescott in September

When i read this i thought s.hit but then i though please let it be at the O2. I would love to see Barrera fight i know hes prob past his best but still a master. Im also a big fan of Khan an would love to see him fight someone with the class of Barrera

Barrera is obviously on the slide as otherwise the fight would not be made at this stage of Khan's career. Khan's promotor obviously feels Barrera has nothing left and will be a great name on Khan's sheet (think Calzaghe saying he beat Roy Jones jr, or Trevor Berbick beating Ali).

I haven't seen Barrera in years - what is he like these days?
