Are you sure? The english players that Rafa has bought havent really cut it here, keane, Pennant, Bellamy, Crouch (He wanted to leave I know). Plus they are the most overated, overpaid players on the planet.

Thats because they are all 2nd rate players at best.

If he had the money to go for the top ones that would be different.

The bottom line is we cant afford top English talent. We never could and for the immediate future we wont ever. So im guessing Rafa will look abroad. But then again who even said Rafa has any money to get anyone abroad. My guess is that he will have to raise the money first by selling the shyte players and maybe Alonso too.

I just can't stop laughing at someone dissing the English players and starting his list with an IRISHMAN and including a WELSHMAN in it as well :D

But he is right, Rafa has rather bought a lot of English/British/Irish/Premiership based players who were at best "adequate/good" players. Maybe Rafa just goes for the wrong ones, refusing to sign Owen back, letting pompey get Defoe at a snip of a price and paying what 2.5x that to get Keane. I read on teletext someone saying that Darren Bent (in a struggling spudz side don't forget) has more Premiership goals than Berbatov and Keane combined. Bent cost £16.5m, Berbatov and Keane went at 3x that.

Our summer signings have so far proved a waste of £40m - bar Riera - what convinces anyone on here that Rafa would spend wisely in January if we managed to raise funds?

Never buy from PC World, product quality is poor and their 'customer service' is even poorer

I'm sure she meant British Ozwat mate

Good last point as well. Going by his record the less he has to spend the worse player he buys as that player is either shyte or isnt proven.

How much would we have to pay for sauce boy? And would Gudjohnsen really even come to us after his past with Chelsea? Besides he is not even a prolific goalscorer. I dont think he scored many at Chelsea and even less at Barca.

Santa Cruz anyone? Lots of talk that he will be off in Jan. He is a clever player and can score goals.

kinnear says today owen wont be signing a new contract.
looking at our strike force now..it is really wise to bring owen back for a couple of millions. at least he boost our chance of winning the league.
once nemeth is good then we can dump owen back on the reserve.

Once Nemeth is good? Are you expecting him to come good in the next few weeks?

Owen always :censored: over clubs. I wonder if Arsenal or someone will sign him. Anyway I doubt we will Rafa said himself last week we wont be bidding for Owen. Unless that was a smokescreen tactic like before we signed Luis Garcia/

Maybe Chelsea will sign him in january? Scolari apparently wants a new striker, but the board is rumoured to have restricted the transfer money due to the financial crisis. Owen would be quite a cheap option for them (even though he'll probably demand ridiculous wages). Anyway, I don't even know why I'm bothered to comment on him actually  :D

Well Chelsea would make sense. He wants loads of money and Chelsea will pay the wages even if its only a 2 year contract. Owen has been injured so much he should stand up like and put himself on a pay as you play deal like Saha has done.

Owen with another two goals today , seriously what does he have to do to impress capello . He's england's best striker and if rafa does not want to sign him because of his own pride we won't go very far with torres crocked for the most of this first half of the season . 5 million for one of the best finishers on the globe is a dam bargain , i'm pretty sure owen will take a pay cut to come back to LFC

Yeah but that would mean Rafa would have to take a 'pride cut' to take him back. I wouldn't rule it out altogether but I cant see us getting anyone in the window anyway.

Would be a huge boost to have owen back and if we miss out on it , it will come back and bite us in the :censored: . He's a striker that has performed wherever he has played . I heard heskey has a 10 million price tag slapped on him and he's not even half the player owen is and owen can be bought for half his price

Just think if we never let go of Owen and Anelka where we might be now. :D

Anyway Owen is a sicknote. I give it a month before he is out for another 3 months. Id rather go for Santa Cruz tbh.

Anelka i don't really rate him although he has been brilliant these season so far . Owen i think he's put all his injurie troubles behind him . Santa cruz , another big fish in a small pond? He could be risky kind of like keane who i'm still fully behind for him to come good .  If we do get a offer around 13 to 15 million for keane from spurs who i read are interested , i'd sell him back .

And make a 5 - 7 mil loss after just a few months or 1 season? Mate that will never happen. As for Owen if he makes it to the end of the season without getting injured again then we can say maybe he has put it past him but its early days yet.
