Hey all. I want to get a semi decent camera for xmas. I have been looking around and have narrowed it down to the following. If any of you have used these cameras and can comment on them I would be most grateful to hear your opinions.

Thanks

Samsung NV4 - 8.2MP
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung....&sr=1-1

Sony CyberShot W130 - 8.1MP

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-Cy....&sr=1-6

Canon Digital IXUS 80 IS - 8MP

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Canon-D....&sr=1-1

I am leaning towards the Ixus but I hear some people saying always stick to Sony blah blah blah.....

Thanks

Well according to T3, which I read quite regularly and have brought on their recommendations they rate the following camera as the best 3 -

1. Canon IXUS 980 IS (14MP) - £350

2. FUJIFILM F100FD (12MP) - £163

3. PANASONIC LUMIX DMC-TZ4 (8MP) - £150

back to the original problem....

personally I'd discount the Samsung.

straight toss-up between the sony and the canon.

I have the sony W-80 at the moment and think it is a very good camera, easy to use, and has a good lens. I actually had a Sony W1 before that, so that shows my faith in them. I've never used a Canon, but have heard good things about them. The problem with Canon's is that for the same spec - they are usually 10-20% more expensive - look at the rrp prices for the Sony and Canon with similar specs!

The amazon links you've provided have the sony at £96 (originally £98.45) - for 8.1MP, 4x Optical Zoom  and then the Canon at £109 (originally £219) for 8.0MP, 3x Optical Zoom

They are both very good cameras for the price, and you'll probably be happy with either of them

always had a cybershot, since about 1998.

In 2005 I changed to IXUS (we had them at work) , and never looked back. These camera's simply take better pictures than the sony
