They cost about the same (Young was a bit cheaper but only marginally) and one has gone forward in leaps and bounds, while the other has at best stagnated and at worst gone backwards.
In fairness Young is left footed and plays left side of midfield as he has done throughout his career, coincidently this is where he plays for Aston Villa. Babel on the other hand is more difficult to pigeon hole into a set position (or at least we seem to find it more difficult to do so) and hasn't had the same minutes on the pitch as his Villa counterpart so perhaps that's the reason why. My guess is though it would take a Barry sized bid to even get Villa slightly interested (somewhere around 20 million quid) with the probability that you'd have to go 25% higher than that to get your man. Too much? Probably but I think he'll be the International left-midfielder for many years to come and those players don't come cheap.
Babels signing becomes more and more curious as time goes by. We shelled out (for us) a hefty fee for him and don't seem to fancy him at all in his favoured position (which is obviously as a striker). Now there is always the possibility that before we signed him we thought "feck me this lad'll make a great left-midfielder" but it requires a bit of a leap of faith to believe that. We can collectively bang on all we like about Babels attitude and workrate being the reason why he isn't given more of a chance, or indeed his lack of ability. The simple fact is though that whereas Young looks like an inspired signing who has probably doubled in value, Babel is looking more and more like a mistake and my hunch is we'd listen to offers at around 7-8 million.

If fairness you want to check your facts. Young is right footed and plays on the left wing.
Babel has been a mistake since day one and Young has always been a good player since his days at Watford.

A 4m profit on a player who we are yet to pay for would be great IMO.
