Right we need to go back to 451/4231 IMO, the primary reason being Gerrard is our biggest goal threat so we need him in a more advanced role and TBH I can see him and Keane having a good game together agaist this blackburn side.
Kuyt on the right and because we are going to be playing much more on the break and we are lacking a little pace I`d go with Babel down the left and Agger in for sami, although if the big Fin held his place I wouldnt have too many complaints as he does offer a threat from corners, which I think was the main reason he started agaist westham.
We`ll win.

Hoping will win this one with ease. Heart says will bounce back with a good performance and win 2-0. Head says it will be either 0-0 or 1-0 to blackburn. Going through a crappy phase which will sadly continue

Chelsea have a tricky away tie to Bolton so could be intersting.
Man U have a banker 3 pointer against Sunderland.

I am NOT Kuyt bashing, but Rafa likes to rest players now and then, and I would like to see him give Kuyt a rest this weekend. I think we need to try something different on the right-side, so I would like to see Rafa pick a very strong midfield, with Gerrard operating on the right, with Alonso and Mascherano in the middle.

Babel to start would be a fresh change.Play him up front with Keane.
Hopefully Aurellio returns as Dossena needs to watch a few more videos to learn how to fit into the Lpool way.

Well I predict a morale boosting 3-1 win for Liverpool

You never see Alonso that far forward.

I agree, and I think that is what Rafa will do - except the Babel bit. Hyypia offers a threat from corners, but do we want to expose him pacewise to rovers? I thought Agger should have played as he likes to get forward and is also a goalthreat - one goal and that run to make up for 'his' mistake that put us behind (v Wigan?) Trouble is Hyypia isn't in the CL squad so we'd be chopping and changing, surely a settled CB pairing is better? I'd be worried if we were so desperate for goals that we picked players for their threat from set-pieces over other considerations. I'd prefer to see Gerrard on the end of corners than taking them, free-kicks I'm happy to see him take. I think he could pose a threat, but he can't take set-pieces and get on the end of them - he isn't that good !

I'm a bit bemused that Bermenstein has seen fit to give 'stars in his eyes, sh1t in his boots' Babel a starring role and drop one of our better performers this season in Kuyt. I also wonder why you'd put our top scorer on the right and drop our second top scorer altogether. If Rafa picks a formation like that then I really will be depressed

Must win game, I hate to report this but we are now on the same number of points as last season in the corresponding fixtures.

Same :

Sunderland 3 (a)
Boro 3 (h)
bitters 3 (a)
pompey 3 (h)
Bolton 3 (a)

More (+9) :

mancs 3 (h) compared to 0 last season
citeh 3 (a) compared to 1 last season
Chelsea 3 (a) compared to 1 last season
Wigan 3 (h) compared to 1 last season

Less (-9) :

villa 1 (a) compared to 3 last season
Fulham 1 (h) compared to 3 last season
West Ham 1 (h) compared to 3 last season
spudz 0 (a) compared to 3 last season

Great that we beat the mancs, Chelsea and citeh, but then we undo all that great work by dropping points at home in two consecutive games on top of other dropped points. We also dropped two points against Stoke, they could prove to be our brum from last season who we never seem to beat in the league.

So are we better off than last season, the rivals playing worse or is it simply the games have fallen nicely and not inconveniently ordered? Still most of us know we have let good chances to be in a strong position slip. Halfway will be a good point to judge properly

Blackburn (a) D0-0 last season
Hull (h) n/a
Arsenal (a) D1-1 last season
Bolton (h) W4-0 last season

If we don't win three of those games I reckon we won't be top. Chelsea have Bolton (a), West Ham (h), bitters (a) and WBA (h) - if they'd don't pick up nine points or more from that lot then maybe the title will be more open this year (we picked up 10 points from those games)  Or maybe we're just making it interesting while the mancs sneak up later in the season

Unfortunately, without Torres, I think we may be in a worse situation than we have been before. Our current striking options are extremely limited, which makes every one of those games a hard game. I personally think Hull, Arsenal and Bolton will be very difficult.

I'm not so worried about the Blackburn game, but I think that most teams know that to defend against Liverpool, the just have to watch the centre of attack, as we are still very narrow.

I can't see where the goals are coming from at the moment and that makes me nervous every match. I can't see Chelsea or Utd dropping many more points over their next few games, which makes the pressure worse.

Owzat,

That's actually interesting.
I haven't got a clue what to conclude from it, but it's interesting all the same.

You never see Alonso that far forward.

And Babel will never be a target man. He is always most effective when dropping off and running at the defence
