What last night told me is that our 1st XI is capable of winning the league but the minute we lose a few players we are f*cked. I think this is where Man Utd and Chelsea are stronger than us.

Man Utd can bring in Tevez, Nani, Anderson etc.
Chelsea can bring in Kalou, Mikel, J.Cole etc.
Livepool can bring in Benayoun, Ngog, Lucas etc

Last night was one of the most frustrating games I have watched LFC play for a long time. You could see after 20 mins that we had run out of ideas. Alonso tried his hardest but without Mascha beside him he was too often picking the ball up inside his own half, Kuyt and Keane didn't work upfront together and we lacked width!!

Dont get me wrong I am delighted we are top of the league but I cant help but think we need a few players if we are to sustain a title challenge.

we're Liverpool FC - we never do things the easy way.

Champs.League - stumbled our way along to the final and won it
FA Cup vs West Ham - stumbled our way through the game but won it

2008/09 prem.league - stumbling our way along but top in December.

We are indeed a few players short.

There is a transfer window in January.

Someone put two and two together here for me please ?

We need to keep in the mixer, we are in the mixer.

If the season finished now, I would be happy. If it finished in a couple of games then even if we lost both games, we would still be in a good position.

Support and beleive.

well i got news, we're still top but the season isnt over yet it could go manure's or chelsea's way. pathetic really. just because we support a club or a sportsperson doesnt mean we cant complain.

I just think you're a bunch of spoilt cry-babies who use any excuse to pull the manager and the players apart.

Draw against a team we should have beaten? It's the end of the World on here.
Not getting enough at home? Let's have a pop at Rafa.

Had a bad day at work? Bosses getting you down?
Have a go at Rafa.

No-one is denying we could be in a better position, but no team in history has ever won the top flight without dropping points.

I think some of the more impatient members would do well to remember such stats in future.

Preston won it in the late 1800's winning every game. (they also won the FA Cup that year, and the true "invincibles" thus won every game in one season.

This is clearly just a poor joke now, I personally hope Rafa doesn't get the contract extension, he doesn't deserve it after the last few matches, in fact this season we have scraped a lot of narrow wins but haven't once truly controlled a match, we are arguably worse than the second half of last season, it's just that the other top teams are also wobbly at the moment but that won't last for ever.

Quality post this, but not in a good way. Benitez' statistics of substitutions making an impact in a game have been better than any manager in the league over the past 4 years. There was a very insightful thread about this over at RAWK with plenty of stats for all you stats whores and doubters. Do a bit of research before you start spouting off.

As for the game, I'm seriously disappointed with us not making up more ground than what we should be. Our confidence just seems a bit low at the minute for some reason. We're perhaps slightly just lacking a player, bar Torres of course, of being good enough to eventually win the title this season, but who knows. If we get to January and we're still top of the table, who could ask for more than that?

Oh, we all can have a go at the players and even the manager, but people seem to omit the fact that the fans inside Anfield have been f*cking shyte, lets be honest about it. There's some quality whoppers going to the game, and it's a disgrace that 1000 or so West Ham fans out sang everyone inside Anfield tonight. The players need to show passion, aye, but so do you w@nkers inside the ground. Where the f*ck has the atmosphere gone to that we're meant to be so famous for? Sort it f*cking out!

Try going to the game yourself you uptight arrogant peice of shite and spending thousands of pounds a year of your own money on traveling to games before you slag off the people that are going and contribute to the club.

Its not the fans that are producing rubbish lad. Its the team, the fans have :censored: all to shout about and even the usual noisey lads are finding it all a bit tedious under the current regime at times.

You are quite simply a grade "a" bellend.

Sorry Stu but hes got a point theres to many idiots going to Anfield at the mo thats why i prefer going to away games . OK we played atrocious but as far as booing the team goes its :censored: disgraceful imo. An it sickens me. Youve got supposed fans there an all they seem to do is take photos on there phone, fans asking whos that on the right wing its a joke, As far as im concerned youve got some right :censored: at the home games now, Tell me when over the years have you ever heard us boo our team. Or the majority of the fans gettin on players backs, Were supposed to be the twelvth man there ,But its not looking like that for a while now

We went top of the league last night an some of our supporters boo . Shocking

I think I'd have a more comfortable life in newkit if I joined the anti Rafa brigade. Ask now for Rafa's head and ask my mates to respect my position.

Then, two things can happen, win the league and be happy enough not to care the members laughing at my past opinions, or be second or third and tell my mates how right I was all along.

A win-win situation as a poster :D

But, seriously, in my country, in which there are more sackings than rainy days in Liverpool, I have never seen a sacking while the team was in the first position of the table. So going further than the Spanish sacking levels is meaningful to me of how tired are some people of Rafa.

No one should ever feel disgraced for voicing an opinion!

For the record I would probably give Rafa till the end of the season but I am beginning to get mighty p1ssed off with how the team is playing, we are boring to watch and unimaginative in tactics, especially the last few matches.

As for other managers who could do better with our current squad, I would say Ferguson, Wenger and possibly Redknapp to get the players fired up, that's all they need some belief form their manager and some slightly better tactics.

We will probably sign a 6th choice backup goalkeeper or some 'highly rated' but :censored: youngster.

If i had said at the start of the season that going into December we would be top of the league everyone would have laughed at me. I didn't hear to many saying we should give Rafa till the end of the season when we beat United at home or Chelsea and Everton away.

Yes we are finding teams a little hard to break down at home but we are not the only ones this season. We are missing Nando and probably dropping points at home because of it but look at Chelsea. Away from home they have no problem but at home WITHOUT Drogba they haven't scored against Liverpool and Newcastle or Arsenal (own goal), and have dropped points against Spurs and United. We are watching all of this and thinking what if, but you think there fans are thinking the same??

As for Arsenal they are all over the place at home and have been beat twice. Even United have thrown away points at home to Newcastle and have been held in the Champions League.

The form table for the last six matches look like this at the moment

Chelsea  - W W W W D L   13
Manchester United - W W L W D W  13
Liverpool - W L W W D D  11
Arsena - D L W L L W  7

We really need to regroup and take 3 points in the Blackburn game, we are still top and have a good a chance as anyone this year of winning the league
