Yeah, yeah, Baros had better put his foot where his mouth is. We need goals from him.And he is in from the start. He had better adjust fast coz the season is up and running.Any games we lose coz somebody upfront didnt get the goals is gonna count. The odds are still 5/4 on Arsenal and there was more than 30 points in it last season.Excuses are not gonna work. Cmon Baros, lets have de goods! :blues:

Whilst your comments are indeed true , Baros is not in the same league as Owen with regards to finishing  :Oo:

Owen's departure has indeed increased the expectation and pressure on the front 2 but I'd klike to see more of our midfielders weigh in woth more goals as a way of taking the onus of the strikers to score all the time .....

I do agree that Owen is in a different league than Baros regarding finishing-skills. But then again, there are not many strikers worldwide that can compete with Owen on his day. I suspect that Real bought Owen partly for political reasons (to keep their promise of signing at least one world class player prior to every new season), but I can`t believe that it`s all about politics. He`s world class ergo Real Madrid material..
Stating that it`s obvious that it would be far to ambitious expecting that Baros could replace him. But the pairing of Cissè and Baros could provide us with 35 - 40 premiership goals a season when being served with passes of excellence from our creative mids. This would make them a pairing providing us with a lot of points this campaign.

I believe that we`ve been to dependant of Owen delivering the goods the last few seasons, resulting in him pitching even when he wasn`t fully recovered from injury. I think that Cissè is a world-class striker. He cost us a shed load off money, and we can`t possibly afford another one of his calibre. To avoid getting equally dependant of him as of Owen previous seasons we need to make the best of what we`ve got. We`re better off pitching Baros, who after all has proved his potential during Euro 2004, and thereby helping him rebuild his self-confidence, than selling off our squadplayers in order to buy another decent striker. Off course it would be great seeing Mista or Saviola in Red, but I can`t really see that it`s realistic, considering the funds available.

The moment Baros goes a game without scoring a goal people are on his back. it makes you wonder what the hell is wrong with some people, he has an eye for a goal as proven with the Czechs and has probably the best goals per game ratio of any modern day striker for his national side. however he has never been used properly, Emile was used ahead of him last season not to mention he broke his leg, why not give the boy a chance? I think Baros is a star in his own right. Trying to compare him to Owen is just daft. He will only get better at his age, has decent ability and ball control and the pace to go with it, he just needs a run and some service.

Agreed. I think he was great during the man city match; not only with his goal and his assist, but also considering the non-stop running throughout the game. He took a lot of beating but he just kept on running. Can`t remeber last time I saw him as sharp as he was Saturday :)
