It seems like we have been playing so poorly of late, and we started with poor form as well, and in the middle there, it was never "the best of forms" not even reaching the levels of some of our best stretches last season (when we played Babel on the left and Gerrard behind Torres, and Agger out injured).

I guess I would just take the three points tonight in whatever way they may come, but sooner rather than later I want us to play a team off the pitch for 90 minutes

I am absolutely convinced Joe that we can and will play much better than we are. Only Kuyt can really say that he has played to hius absolute optimum (for him) this season, along with obviously Alonso. Even Gerrard despite still being a World beater in almost every game can still do better.

We've been occasionally porous at the back, Reina has let a couple in he should have saved, Dossena has been slow to settle in (it is national understatement day isn't it, or was that yesterday?), Riera has played in fits and starts, Mash hasn't really reached the hieghts of last season, Keane has beena  disappointmment while unsurprisingly, Torres hasn't scaled the hieghts of last season.

The backup players have got worse (Babel and Lucas) while the newbie Ngog has so far been (although I know it's early) cr@p lets be honest.

And yet here we are, about to go top by three points. Lovely fecking jubbly. We can definately play better, and we will. Win here and win our next six, then lets put our heads above the parapet and see who's still with us.

I'm ever more hopeful, I loved Scholari's press conference after the Arsenal defeat. He looked to me like a man in a panic. It's been a long time, God knows it's been a long time but this could be our year.

Fiat Lux my friends, Fiat Lux.

I have no doubt that we will play better too. Well I have some doubt, but I think that we will.

I am more perplexed at how high we are in the table dispite all this poor play. Seems to me when I bother to watch premier league weekly wrap up shows United and Chelsea are bossing kids of the playground,  yet we could be top of the league with just a draw. That sounds crazy. Maybe its just that people tend to really emphasize the negatives and it makes it feel worse than it is.  Crazy how Rafa is making all these "mistakes" WITH A LESSER SQUAD, and still out performing Fergie and "the brilliant newbie" Big Phil who has Chelsea "playing better than when they were under Mourinho"

Well it's definately not the starting eleven I'd have gone with, a bit stylie for my liking. I can't really see why we didn't just play Riena, Arbeloa, Carragher, Agger, Dossena, Kuyt, Masherano, Alonso, Gerrard, Riera and Keane. 4-5-1, it's our best team available so play it.

Neither Benayoun nor Hyppia need to play in my humble opinion, they can both have a run out in the FA Cup third round, and Benayoun can play in the next Champions League match. Hopefully the fact we don't have Aggers ability on the ball and his tendency to step through a congested midfield won't be a handicap (didn't he score against these a couple of years back?).

There is probably the feeling that Keane is less than effective up top on his own, which I have some sympathy with. It'll be benayoun on the right, with Keane and Kuyt up top. The team is still good enough IMHO and not sufficiently disrupted to mean we won't win it. Liverpool to get home 2-1.

EDIT-DIDN'T KNOW AGGER WAS 'CARRYING A KNOCK', IN THAT CASE I'M ONLY MOANING ABOUT THE INCLUSION OF YOSSI. ON REFLECTION AS WELL, KEANE MAY NOT BE THE BEST LONE STRIKER SO I'LL FORGIVE THAT ONE AS WELL. GOOD TEAM BOSS ;O).

Can't say I am happy with the team :(  Benayoun :(  I realise these are the sort of games that you should be able to take a bit of a gamble with regarding one or two players, but so were Fulham and Tottenham. With Torres out I just hope someone steps up to score the goals.

We have only 1 goal from the defence this season, maybe Hyypia can score.

See above Aggers got a knock, not fit enough to start.

Agger has aknock mick so that's why sami's in . Can't explain the other changes other than imo it's more attacking .

Since Riera and Keane are almost locks to be subbed off, it will be interesting to see which one Babel comes on for. If he replaces Riera, than unless we are up by 2 goals, N'Gog is the only "natural" replacement for Keane.

I have a good feeling about this one I really like Kuyt up front.  Yossi will be :censored: probably but I think we'll be okay anyway.

Good chance for Keane and Kuyt to get among the goals. Playing against a pretty ordinary side who will not come to defend.

Kuyt is a better strike partner for Keane than Torres. Alonso and Gerrard are players who not only have the vision to see his runs but also have the ability to feed him the ball in the right areas.

Keane to score today.
