From Shankly to Brendan we follow our team, Rome to Istanbul we've all lived the dream. Our journey is long, our goal stays the same, to keep for our children the famous red name.

If we do win this (which we will) will it be Ok to talk about us being the title race given that we'll be three points clear at the top, or is the plan still not to mention it till the end of March so we don't "jinx ourselves"? Lots of people have also alluded to the idea recently that being top in December means absolutely nothing, the thing hasn't even started yet. If we win tonight (which we will) will those people begin to consider this a full and authentic title challenge, or will they still need more proof.

I know it's early and all that (actually it's not really), but we have been well and truly in contention for the title since we went to Stamford Bridge and played them off the park in my view. There is no jinx, provided Rafa doesn't prove Stu correct and pick a silly team we will comfortably beat these tonight which will put us in a unique position. We will actually be going into games knowing that if we win, we ratchet up the pressure on our chasers with each three points gained. Make no mistake about it, the Mancs and Chelsea are already thinking "next time we play them we've gotta turn em over" and so they should do. I'm telling you this, all things being equal if we were to win at Old Trafford it would put them under huge pressure to cartch us. If we beat Arsenal either Home or Away they are gone for all money. It's a nice position to be in, we just need to keep our heads and keep selecting sensible teams.

Its so hard for me to get my head around the chance that we would be 3 points clear IF we win. It seems like we have been playing so poorly of late, and we started with poor form as well, and in the middle there, it was never "the best of forms" not even reaching the levels of some of our best stretches last season (when we played Babel on the left and Gerrard behind Torres, and Agger out injured).

I guess I would just take the three points tonight in whatever way they may come, but sooner rather than later I want us to play a team off the pitch for 90 minutes

I am absolutely convinced Joe that we can and will play much better than we are. Only Kuyt can really say that he has played to hius absolute optimum (for him) this season, along with obviously Alonso. Even Gerrard despite still being a World beater in almost every game can still do better.

We've been occasionally porous at the back, Reina has let a couple in he should have saved, Dossena has been slow to settle in (it is national understatement day isn't it, or was that yesterday?), Riera has played in fits and starts, Mash hasn't really reached the hieghts of last season, Keane has beena  disappointmment while unsurprisingly, Torres hasn't scaled the hieghts of last season.

The backup players have got worse (Babel and Lucas) while the newbie Ngog has so far been (although I know it's early) cr@p lets be honest.

And yet here we are, about to go top by three points. Lovely fecking jubbly. We can definately play better, and we will. Win here and win our next six, then lets put our heads above the parapet and see who's still with us.

I'm ever more hopeful, I loved Scholari's press conference after the Arsenal defeat. He looked to me like a man in a panic. It's been a long time, God knows it's been a long time but this could be our year.

I hope that Hyypia does a better job at helping out Dossena than Agger did.

Benayoun in ahead of babel feck knows what he has to do to get a start, would have played him upfront with Keane.

I am guessing Yossi is on the right with Keane and Kuyt up top?  maybe Kuyt on the right and Yossi behind Keane?  Either way, with that kind of set up, I would have liked to see either El Zhar or Pennant as sub options, instead we have BOTH Lucas and Mascherano and BOTH N'Gog and Babel.

A solid starting 11, hopefully Yossi isn't up front though.  Kuyt up front with Stevie in the middle is so much better for our attack.

Rather have Insua than Dossena , but there you go . Tha team is easily good enough to win tonight.

No two sitting midfielders , better attacking line up that.
