What odds on Babel not being here in 18 months time.

He always was a strange signing, could never see how he or his playing style would fit in with ours.

I think he has the potential to reach a Djbril Cisse type level (different kind of player I know), i.e. dangerous on his day and would do a good job for a team like Newcastle or Sunderland but he isn't top 4 material.

Oh how the attitude has changed. Another one I was right about. :no

Another £11,000,000 wasted by the spanish clown who's ego is more important than winning games.

The goal against Manure was worth £10,999,999 of his transfer fee. I'm still sitting on the fence with this guy. He frustrates the life out of me but he has got something. I don't know if it is his attitude, playing ability, lack of brain power or a combination of the lot that will result in Liverpool getting rid. I hope he comes good and quick along with misses Keane who is an even more serious concern.

The Spanish clown - how very dare you - remember Istanbul !!

I think hes the sort of player that needs an arm round him and a bit of guidance. With a bit of time he will come good. Give him a run of six or seven games. He has the talent to become a legend.

What good will that goal prove to be if he doesnt play well all season? Id rather have someone of proper quality who can play well in more than just a handful of games per season.

Maybe Torres' injury is the opportunity for Babel to show he's worth a punt for 90 mins ? Can't think who else would be a stand-in...

Babel up top on his own? Doesn't need thinking about, it's a no go zone from the start.

Babel up top with Keane? Two out of form players, both trying to impress and stake a claim as to why they should be the partner of Torres in a 4-4-2. In other words both trying to do too much on their own and the team suffers because of it.

One person I know wants Nemeth up top, but he's not ready just yet. Maybe the bench, but not to lead the line. Then again Babel isn't ready to lead the line. Our best forward this year has been the one on the right wing, Dirk Kuyt. Put him up front and give Gerrard or El Zhar the right wing spot until Torres returns.

I have kind of come to a conclusion about Babel and we need to give him a real big chance once and for all.

He has :censored: me off this season more than any other player including the obvious i.e Dossena and Lucas and that's because he has obvious talent and this needs to be brought out of him.

The worst players the ones i have just mentioned above have been giving more than enough games to show what little quality they have BUT Ryan never has been, he is in one game then subbed off then on the bench the next games comes on for the last 20 mins or so then doesn't get a game for a few games and then when he does get a game again he isn't much kop.

Is it really any wonder the lad isn't going anywhere, he needs 6 games now up front and we need to take this gamble on him cos i see nothing more positive than doing this with Keane along side him i think this is a good way forward.

Just give him a bit of continuity upfront so he has a real chance and we have a real chance to see if he is good enough.

I for one think he is and if he does get sold i think it will be our loss and someone else's gain

:) :)

Well Torres is out for a few weeks now and we have a lot of games coming up so its a good chance for him to prove his worth.

WTF is going on with some people's opinion of Babel on here? Its absolutely myopic how Babel is being, in some posts, torn apart and sent to the gallows!!!  :glare:

When Babel first signed, I only caught the news late as I was getting married in Turkey and news doesn't travel fast. I was delighted that we had signed him as I had knew about Babel for about 2 years prior and knew what talent he had for such a young player.

Babel has talent which is clear to see (I know a lot will pick holes out of that, but really, get the sh!t out of your eyes) and most recently, has been unable to showcase his talent due to bit-part appearances beacause of the fact that we are currently sitting joint top of both the League and our CL group respectively. Like many of us have stated time and time again, why change a winning side?

He's looked raw and rough when he has come on recently - for me, thats perfectly understandable when you consider the standard of football he has played (if he has at all?) in the reserves. When he's come on he's only been guilty of trying to do too much when on the ball. Against Spurs every time he got the ball, he had 3 players around him, marking him out of the game. That game was one of the best compliments he could have received recently, Spurs were obviously bothered about what he could do.

So, he has come out and said a few things in the press because he's not playing. I would much rather have a player speaking out (by the way, he's not spoke out of term either - he's simply said he wants to go nowhere and earn his place!) than have a piece of sh!t scum like Pennant pi$$ his salary up the wall and take the pi$$ out of us fans while he's at it.

I think really what I am getting at is that we have a player that wants to play for us, has real talent and all a lot of people can do is sl@g him off because he's said a few words in the press, while not actually saying very much, either. There are people at our club that do deserve our wrath and Babel certainly isn't one of them. £11M, wasted? No Fu*king chance. That price was a steal if you ask me, especially when you consider we paid £12.5 for Pennant and Bellamy - who would you rather have? As Roberto Green said in a post above:- "if he does get sold i think it will be our loss and someone else's gain." Nail, Head mate, Nail & Head.  :nod

And what have you based that on? A 2 minute glance at a newspaper rag which has 'interpreted' Babels coments, or on his actual talent?

Babel is far from either of those insightful descriptions you have labelled him with. Tbh Stu, I would have given you more credit than to post a narrow-minded opinion such as that.
