I think that we're in serious need of rotation.  Riera and Kuyt should get a rest in the next game and maybe Alonso aswell.

Very poor game tonight. Kuyt's passing was chronic (no surprises there though really TBH), Mascherano's passing was even worse (I don't think he completed one), Reira kept cutting inside and running into people and Torres was completely isolated and effectively cut out of the game. Even Alonso was sort of quiet and Dossena put in yet another appaling performance.

In fairness to Kuyt though he did get the ball away from the goalmouth at one point.

Possession was thrown away time and time again in that match. It was getting painful to look at after a while. Far, far too many aimless balls just fücked upfield with little real thought behind them and they end up landing at the other side's feet meaning Liverpool have to chase the ball again! Possession ended up being 51% to 49% only because Liverpool kept passing the ball to Marseille.

A bare win and probably wouldn't have been against a better team.

Very disappointed and another indication that Liverpool have some serious problems breaking down teams.

Should be play an ultra attacking team against PSV in an effort to get some goals?

Maybe 433 with;

Keane Torres Kuyt
Riera Alonso Gerrard
Aurelio Agger Carra Arbeloa

Unlikely but it would be fun to watch

Mmmmm and that hasn't worked out too well so far. But tonight is another showcase on why I am against Liverpool playing with a single striker up front, even if it is Torres. They just end up getting  completely eliminated.

Last match someone was saying we play so much better with just Torres as a lone striker. :)

Dossena  should never play for us again... :no

It could have been better but we're through and that's the most important thing. At the end of the day a win is a win.

hopefully we're saving our best football for the group stages and the second half the league season... so far we haven't been firing on all cylinders except for the man united and chelsea matches. Partly because torres was injured and keane's not finding his shooting boots. But it's a positive that we are where we are now though... join top in the league and through the the CL knock out stages. Another positive is that fatty lampard got sent off...

Wil likely be a mix of reserves with a few first teamers against PSV.

I could see Benayoun, Lucas, Hyppia, Pennant, Degen and Dossena all playing.

In control first half with requisite intensity but we didn't kick on in the second. Our passing was never really up to standard, Gerrard rarely if ever found a through ball, same with Alonso. Everyone was a little wasteful and that's why we struggled to retain possession, particularly in the second half. Torres didn't have much of a look in due to a lack of coordination; not being able to find the right movement or control at the right time, but this was also because a lack of quality service from midfield. I think he's just lacking match sharpness, mentally more than physically.

I'm not going to go overboard with the criticism because, 1) I didn't think the performance was too bad overall (comfortable first half, slack second), and 2) It was never a make or break game, we were effectively through after the draw at home with Atletico.
