Did hammann - Here's an idea...

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Reading that there is some unrest within Man City and Didi Hamman might be looking for a move.

How about getting him back at LFC and groomed for a coaching role with Rafa and the team. At the same time he could still offer us something in the middle of the park (in a bit part/occasional subs role if and when required). Didi's main role could be as a reserve team coach!!

This would then allow us to release Lucas and/or Plessis on loan (we need to see if they have what it takes to be LFC players and a loan move might be help him prove this) or sell them(?).

Not sure if Didi left LFC (and Rafa) on good terms though so this might not be a viable option.

Didi's an LFC legend IMO and I'd love to see him back at Anfield.

Ps...title should read Didi Hamann (in case anyone wondered who I was on about).  :)

I didn't like when he left because his sober style of football was much of my taste.

But I haven't followed him these years, do you think he's still more or less the same footballer?

If he is, he'd be a better option than a too young Plessis should we lose Alonso for injuries or Mascherano in a Argentina game.

Seem to remember when Gary Mac was signed a few years ago that a lot of us thought wtf but were proved very very wrong - maybe Didi could provide similar back up at relatively low cost.

Everton +£33m (£211m)
Arsenal £557m (£853m)

Not even as a coach which was what the original post asked? I'd love to see him back. Didi at half speed is still three times the midfielder Lucas will ever be.

I watched the 2005 CL Final again 2 nights ago. No one needs reminding that Didi was a great player but he´s way to old to cope with our level of football today.

Training staff maybe, but his playing days are over.

Where is Gary Mac these days?

Why do we need him as coach ? the players seem to be doing well enough in midfield without him as coach . how do you know how good lucas will be ? how good was didi at his age ? was he a star at lucas age , he only got himself established around the age of 24ish and national team around 25ish ? playing international football at 21 ? you cant compare the two , so lets see what happens when lucas gets to that age shall we. we dont need a 35/36 year old defensive midfielder . people go on about giving youth a chance then talk about not playing them to let them develop and bring a 35 year old in instead . Lucas is not at the level of the three ahead of him but as a forth choice cm he does a decent job and this season hasnt let the side down once when he has started or come on.

and reg gary mac is leeds manager at the moment - doing an ok job.

...Oh I dunno, we're still going a couple of goals down then fighting to win a game, just like 25/5/05.

bringing him as a coach is a good idea. he will be able to teach players like Lucas and Plessis with his vast experience.

It defies logic signing him. We just don't need another midfielder and if we did than surely we can wait until summer for Barry
