We played well ffs

Spot on Nanny  :nod

wait....so we TOTALY dominated a game and got a well deserved POINT. not 3 but just 1. and thats good enough for you?

Not good enough mate but if we had had a decent striker on last night I think we would have won that game comfortably.

We didn't play as well last night as we did against Spurs, but we did ok (we should have done better). Our luck turned the last couple of games, hopefully its now back with us after the penalty!

We dominated the second half totally, the first half we played in patches, but probably deserved to be level.

So we shouldn't have played that line-up away to Chelsea?

Well it wasnt as if keane was very effective in that game either was it.  I wouldnt say he was pivotal to the result we got at chelsea at all.  Babel was better in the short time he played.

But you still maintain that we C'ANT play 4-2-3-1 without Torres DESPITE the FACT we were the first team to win at Chelsea in nearly FIVE years. I deffo think we should play a different system there next season :no

But, on evidence, Liverpool can't (and shouldn't most of the time) play 4-2-3-1 against most sides. Using that formation against Chelsea was the right idea. But it was a defensive mindset and the team spent most of the game defending with two layers of four. Rafa set out for the draw before that game started.

LIVERPOOL WERE LUCKY (THAT'S LUCKY) TO GET A DEFLECTION GOAL AGAINST CHELSEA USING THAT FORMATION.

Other than that LUCKY deflection goal, there wasn't much chance of Liverpool scoring in that game.

Yes Liverpool had a good game against Chelsea in other areas of the park, but at the business end they were no great shakes.

Against other teams, Liverpool should play with two up front and at least offer the midfield more options going forward. At the very least two strikers will force oposition teams to divide their defence.

Rafa is deluding himself and the fans if he thinks that the likes of Keane, Kuyt, N'gog or Babel are consistantly good enough to play on their own up front.

Liverpool got to play with two strikers up front, this negative or more it is a defensive tactics will work against top teams in the away games, but it would not work at home!  Benitez needs to change his tactics, and become more positive with it, to win game more comfortably, however, this new type of play which is hurried imprecise passing getting us nowhere, and also the hurried shooting and panic in foront of the goal by the all the players has got to improve, we are wasting a lot of easy chances, and we are getting paid for it badly.

All I'll say about last night is we were average at best, despite dominating the majority of the game and having a load of chances.

We seriously lack a cutting edge upfron without Torres.

The referee was probably the worst I've ever seen. I don't think he got a single decision right all night.

I think people are getting a bit carried away with 4-4-2 being the answer to all our prayers. Without Torres I don't think it would matter if we played 4-4-2  or 4-1-5 we would still struggle for goals BECAUSE THE OTHER FORWARDS ARN'T SCORING ENOUGH. Only Kuyt has been carrying the burden this season, and the last thing we need is him playing furthest striker forward..... because he doesn't lead the line, he drops off .

I prefer 4-4-2 and think against MOST sides its probably the best formation IF we have two strikers playing well and scoring, at the moment with Keane firing blanks I would prefer Gerrard behind Torres. I think we have a lack of options up front at the moment with Torres being out, and tbh very LUCKY to have scored as many goals as we have this season, even with the large number of chances we have made.

We need another striker ..... and one that we can rely on to get goals even when Torres is out. Even if Keane starts knocking goals in for fun when Torres comes back we still need another striker, because we have no one to lead the line when Torres doesn't play, and as we all know Torres can't play EVERY GAME can he?

Lot of possession, little cutting edge, too many shoot on sight merchants and still we cut out some good openings.

What should worry people is that Agger had the most good chances to score, good player and I'm not against him having shots or getting forward, but shouldn't it be Gerrard, Kuyt or Keane in those scoring areas?

Agree on the ref, could have given FIVE penalties and gave just the one. I am not surprised the Spanish side reacted badly to the penalty award given they'd nearly qualified, the ref hadn't given four before then and the crucial decisions are always the likeliest to be questionned/controversial

Bellamy - 2 goals in first 18 games for Liverpool, scored two in his 19th

Keane - 2 goals in first 18 games for Liverpool................................

I seriously doubt Rafa will be able to offload Keane next season as he did with Bellamy, much more expensive and the board wouldn't take kindly to splashing out £20m on a player only to see him sold asap

To say it was a poor performance not only detracts from the lads, but also from a very accomplished Athletico side IMHO.

Ah, that's nonsense Lando.   :no

It wasn't the lack of "movement in the box" or a "finishing touch" that allowed AM to go 1 up. It was the extremely poor passing and the utter lack of ability to keep the ball that gave the Spanish the edge over Liverpool.

Liverpool's lack of finishing is very worrying, but as long as Liverpool KEEP handing the ball over to the opposition, they will continually lose the initiative in games and that should have red lights go off everywhere for the team.

Saying it was a poor performance is an HONEST evaluation of Liverpool's game last night. Saying it was anything other than that is blind. partisan rubbish of the lowest order.

Sorry boss.

Guess that's me all told off and put in my place...  :Oo:

Grow up.

You know what? Athletico are the first team I've ever seen moan and whinge about a draw after being completely dominated start to finish.

We should have had 2 penalties BEFORE the one awarded. Your lad blatantly took his eyes off the ball, and barged Gerrard.

Rather than wasting your time posting up videos made by some pre-pubescent Manc infant, I suggest you actually watch the event in hand a little more closely...
