The match, especially the 2nd goal revealed why Alonso for all his ball holding skills represents a weakness in Liverpool MF. I hope that this will not be the issue that decides our position at the end of the season vis a vis the title..

your not serious are you?

He just has higher expectations than you Metalhead  :D

He will join your alonso basher brigade s@int  :D

I'll ignore the insults an say this: yes Alonso was one of our best players yesterday, when he had the ball..!!!!!

With Masch increasingly being used to press upfield, Alonso is required more and more to read the game and make defensive movements to cover unprotected zones, much like Xavi currently does at Barca...Before u gets get ur d1cks up, watch the events leading up to the 2nd goal and come back and talk to me...
Floyd stepped left and threw the hook that caught Hatton flush under the chin. Finally, the British champ had arrived in that mythical place of which his fans speak: Hatton Wonderland.

So because of one goal the player is useless and we need to buy Gareth Barry for a large sum of money?

Havent bothered reading post match comments, just want to say i am not at all worried by the defeat.
Disappointed of course but we played really well and but for some bad luck would of won convincingly, that kind of thing can happen in football, and Spurs have some good quality attacking players.
The first 15-20 minutes of the second half was the best i have seen so far this season, great to watch, total domination away at one of the trickier places to go in the league.
Wouldnt criticise the players the manager or anyone, it was just one of those unlucky days that you can get in football.

Chin up everyone, we are still right in the mix.

Xavi makes defencive movments and reads the game? he is a playmaker with barca who plays killer balls and dictates the game with his passing while playing UPFIELD. I've been watching alot of barca games lately, he plays as an attacking midfielder not a defencive one.

As for Alonso, yeh lets blame Alonso's fault for the second goal because its all his fault we conceded! BS, its the back four's inability to defend properly in the last minutes of the game.

No slowsky. beacause he represents an unresolved weakness in the team...

He makes defensive movements to complement the DM, Basquet or Yaya, when Barca do not have the ball. It is precisely his ability to bring greater defensive cover to his team that seperates him from Alonso...

the DMs actually compliment him more, giving him more freedom to go upfield and link up with the strikers.

isn't part of football is keeping the ball and not waste it? keeping possession, giving in the right pass and scoring goals? well we did the 2 things on saturday, but the 3rd (scoring goals) we didn't.

Yes they do, but each player in their MF setup is expected to provide defensive cover on loss of posession albeit to different degrees...My point is that Alonso is not as efficient on the defensive end as he needs to be and as Liverpool need him to be at the level we are playing...
