TOTTENHAM VS LIVERPOOL - Saturday november 1st 17.30pm ko

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby bigmick » Sat Nov 01, 2008 8:51 pm

Listen, couple of things here. Heimdall hasn't just appeared when we've lost, he's been here all season so give it a rest with the victimisation of fellow fans FFS. He is as gutted as anyone else I've no doubt so lets just give it a rest.

As for the game itself, a few things are clear. Firstly, we didn't get an ounce of luck. I know we're probably overdue a bad bounce or two, but whatever, we didn't get an even rub in this game.

Secondly, we had a good few chances, particularly at the start of the second half, and we could really have done with taking one. Kuyt's springs to mind as does Alonso's header, but whatever, we didn't and we paid the price.

Thirdly, the equaliser was a bit of a mess but I thought Pepe should have saved it. He idn't and I'm not sure why not, but I thought he should have. QUICK DISCLAIMER FOR ANY NUMPTIES-I THINK REINA IS A GOOD GOALKEEPER I'M JUST SAYING.

Fourthly, for the second goal I think Alonso has to do better in preventing the first shot, and Agger simply must do better in stopping Pavleychenko from scoring. Not strong enough for me there I'm afraid.

Fifthly, the substitution of keane was a poor one for me, and it didn't work out in any way shape or form.

sixthly-the styling which we did in midweek arguably backfired. You can argue all day long that it didn't do us any bharm, but I certainly wouldn't think there'd be too much arguments that it didn't appear to do us any discernable good.

seventhly-it's just one of those things and now the challenge is not to allow it to turn into a bliiiiiiiiiiiiiip.

Today our luck ran out, thanks for jinxing us Toffee.   :D

:censored: off mate , i said i had a bad feeling and i was right , when you hit the post crossbar 2 times and the post once , you don't win games , you either lose or draw them .

Tbh tof was saying what most of us was thinking it was one of those games and tbh to believe in jinxing is just childish.

just up u :censored: im just being honest chelsea have to much depth and strength in there squad they are killin team 5-0 and we struggle

Chelsea played Sunderland, we played a good spurs team.  We could of been up 3-0 easily maybe even 4 if we were shooting like a team in our position.

Did you watch the game at all or are you just dumb?

Sorry but you are the dumb one here, we could have been this and we could have been that, well we weren't and the main reason is that half the team have not the slightest fecking idea how to score a goal!!
Plus why oh why can we not find a single bloody player inthe team who knows how to take a corner, why is it always Stevie who takes freekicks and corners when he is so bloody awful at them?

Well at least we had 1 week at top spot, I'm sure you happy clappers will bask in the glory of that for a few years!

Right on cue, are the rest on their way or did you come alone ?  :no

Instead of being a smart :censored: why don't you try and argue against me, I didn't say anything that isn't true. We have been riding our luck so far this season and today it ended despite Toffee not being able to take a joke! :D
The problem is that teams like Manure and the Chavs have so much more class in their team, we only have a few great players and too much dross. Today even Spurs showed, at least attacking, far more imagination, skill and flair than us.

quite funny how you appear only when we lost... to bask in delight at our defeat...  :no

What are you talking about, I was on for the whole match, and the same people who are now telling me to go and kill myself were being really nice to me just a few days ago, and I'm the fickle one, give me a break!

Who told you to kill yourself , you daft t1t. If you can't take a joke ,don't start spouting :censored: then . What you have to say is not true , it's your opinion lets get that straight for starters.

If you offered a reasoned arguement ,you wouldn't get so much stick off me . Try for once and see the bigger picture , yes we lossed for the first time this season . Is it the end of our season no . Can we get back on a run with the games we have coming up , i think so . Have Chelsea Arsenal and the Mancs still got to go to white heart lane this season ,yes. Instead of spouting cr@p , try and look at the season as a whole.

We'll end up 3rd this season purely because we don't have a good enough team or squad, that isn't really Rafa's fault but is a reality none the less.
Unless we get a huge cash injection we will never win the premiership and anybody who believes we can are in cloud cookoo land.
Now can everyone please stop childishly attacking me and actually have a sensible discussion, I know you are all just attacking me because I'm an easy target and you guys are as fecking annoyed at the loss as I am, if that makes you feel any better then good.

Just dont commit suicide if you dont get a good disscusion ok  :(

just a joke, sorry if you didnt like it i have a morbid mind die mutha fu...... see what i mean lol

:bowdown  I never get excited at set-pieces either. It's the total opposite to defending set-pieces - I don't panic.

Why? Because the work is being done defensively. Rafa's mentality is don't concede first and foremost. Which is why we lack ideas going forward.
AND HERE COMES AVI COHEN!! OH I SAY - AT THE SAME END HE'S GOT ONE BACK!!!!!!!!!!

I am not here to argue, it really does nothing for my ego to argue with a name on a computer screen ?

Chelsea and Man U have so much class that they have won every game this season and we are so far behind them in points ! lets throw the towel in now, you never seem to be around when we are doing well, I imagine you smash your keyboard up after you have wrote a post ready to tell us how bad we are only to have to delete it before you get chance to send it ( Wigan and Man City for example ).

You carry on mate because in moments like this when I am feeling slightly gutted, I read your posts and they make me smile  :p

You must have short term memory loss or something, I have posted loads of times after we have won, why don't you go back and check. I am not negative at all but I am realistic, if you still think we have a realistic chance of winning even from before today's match then good for you, I hope the weather is nice in your little fantasy world!

We cant think it's just a one game off. What about the Stoke game? And that was at home. Why cant everyone take of the rose tinted glasses and admit we are not quite there yet. We would have taken our chances today. Or at least more than what we did take.

And Keane was  anyway, ok a little dribble for Kuyts goal but I think Rafa had more in mind when he paid 20Mil for him.

a few good points raised there Bav.

I don't think we're there yet and haven't hyped up our title chances although it was looking good, a season lasts 38 games and I don't think we have the consistency to do it.

Man U and Chelsea's only losses have came against us, they haven't dropped many stupid points and I think we will

We're in a good position right now, let's make it count in the next few games

We lack strength in depth in our squad. You look at Utd and Chelsea and they have estabished internationals waiting to come on. We dont have the money so we have to resort to 2nd best a lot of the time.

I know it's still early in the season but I cant believe for one minute people actually want to believe we can win the league yet. Heck it would be a miricle if we finished in 2nd place let alone 1st.

We are in a good position to ensure 4th place and if we keep our heads screwed on we could get 3rd but seriously forget about 1st or 2nd.

#3 The Setanta commentator said 'Rafa has never lost to Spurs.' Cue Spurs win.

But the biggest reason is...

#4 Rafa's system.
Rafa has ONE brand of football - his. He's won LA Liga, Uefa Cup, Champions League and FA Cup playing his system and granted it's worked more often that not. So Rafa's thinking is 'If we don't win, it must be the player's performances, not the system. Because I've won blah blah blah...'.

A case in point. We were playing 4-4-1-1. We needed a shake-up, something 'different'. Here's the changes:
Babel for Keane. Still 4-4-1-1
Bena-useless for Riera. Still 4-4-1-1. Except we've got an average right midfielder playing left midfield. Does that make sense? No.

When I saw Bena-useless coming on, I thought, 'Wow - Rafa is mixing it up and actually going for a win. Kuyt joins Babel up front with Yossi on the right.' How wrong I was.

We were always going to get caught out at some stage and it's a bit of bad luck we got Spurs in the ascendancy - it was really putting off the inevitable. Bad luck too hitting the woodwork 3 times.

This inability, or lack of ambition, to kill of teams is really getting to me. Liverpool might have been top of the league for a bit - it's a snoozefest to watch, though.

I just hope this one setback doesn't send ripples of doubt through a team whose confidence has almost being tentative. When Torres comes back, it'll be different.

First goal was own goal from carra spurs didnt score it.

United have a good bench?  They did horrible without Ronaldo.  True, he isn't really replaceable, but they aren't as strong as everyone thinks they are.

And I don't think we were too concerned about the Madrid away game.

On a brighter note. . . I thought Kuyt played with the confidence of a champion today.  Looked totally up for the game and ran their defense ragged in the first half.  He was the best player on the pitch for the first 45 and it is a toss up for our man of the match between him and Gerrard, as Gerrard seemed to pop up everywhere in the second half.

Hopefully the team will keep their heads up and smash Athletico and West Brom this week and put this game far in the back of our memories.

We are still tied at the top, but after watching Manure Chelski and Arsenal earlier, I would have to say we are closer to Arsenal than to either Manure or Chelski.  Things need to change if we are going to challenge all the way to the end.  We cannot afford to take off our only goal threat and put on a total waste when we are only one nil up.  I am quickly losing all confidence in Babel, as his ambition at the moment does not seem to match that of the rest of the squad or the the fans.

I know it is only one loss, but the manner in which we lost - dominating 60 minutes - really hurts.  Rafa please learn from this.  Leave Babel in his place; on the bench or on the wing.  He does not have the bottle to play up front.
