If Torres is a risk, let him recuperate fully for the Spurs game.

4-4-2, Gerrard and Alonso in the centre, Riera left, Kuyt/Pennant on the right, and Benayoun up top playing off Keane.

Think xabi may get a rest for masher or lucas being involved - can also see babel getting a run out from the start - not sure about yossi after his shocker last week .

I would think some styling is quite likely given the schedule we've had, and I wouldn't see a problem with the odd change. I think this is a game where we could do with Benayoun's trickery and intelligence in the middle, because they'll park a heavy hauler in front of goal. I wouldn't entertain Lucas' involvement from the start partly because he's looked suspect in his more recent appearances, but more so because Alonso, Gerrard and Masch are all coming off the back of very good performances. For me, we could bring in Benayoun and/or Pennant as viable options in place of Kuyt (key players need a rest  :D ), and perhaps Dossena for Aurelio. Babel remains an impact player in my view.

I think at some point in the game we could see an N'Gog-Babel partnership

I can't fathom how bad that would be.

i cant recall n'gog being that pacey or even that good on the ball..
raw talent if anything and maybe good in 5vs.5s in training but no more... well not yet anyways....
kuyt,keane,babel... play 2 and bring the third on as a sub if needed.. id only throw n'gog in there if we'r 2 goals up or sumthing with not much to go...

This might be a decent game for Sami as well to give Crouch some sort of contest in the air.  That said, I wouldn't really want to mess too much with the Carra-Agger partnership, just as it was beginning to gel.

Considering the effort our players put in when we don’t have the ball we simply will have to rotate players or we will burn out in the last few months of the season. Arbeloa hardly had a break this season, Gerrard has been tired recently and Keane is suffering from a groin injury.

                         Reina

Carragher     Hyypia     Agger     Aurelio

Pennant   Mascherano  Lucas      Riera

                 Benayoun
                                 Kuyt

Subs

Keane
Babel
Gerrard
Alonso
Arbeloa
Dossena
Cavalieri

im not sure the side you put out can beat pompey.. Lucas -benayoun -and carragher at right back ? gotta be having a laugh there mate !
3 points against them are just as important as 3 points against chelsea, manutd or arsenal...
start a strong squad with no more than 2 changes or so and then give some players a rest once the result is secured..

Be lucky to get a draw with that, Put Lucas back in the reserves, Gerrard and Keane should both start.
