CHELSEA VS LIVERPOOL - We can do it!

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I refer you to my other post in the other thread. The one about just accepting that we aren't going to get along and just not bothering to debate. Sorry I didn't spell Sammy correctly, I actually wasn't implying that the person who had written that was confusing him with our centre half. It was another big Sam I was thinking of to tell the truth. It's probably the first time Sammy Lee has ever been called "Big Sammy" but that's OK, no need to be defensive about it if that's what you want to call him.

Anyways as I said on the rotation thread I'd prefer it if we didn't debate football for the forseeable TBH. I do read your posts, though that's as far as it goes  :)

In that case stop mentioning me or what i post or have little digs if you dont want to debate with me etc .

p.s. Joe Fagan called Sammy Lee "Big Sammy" on the training etc due to the his stature and the size of his heart for Liverpool .

I've been referred to as "Big Jimmy" before, but only in the newspapers after I was caught in the all girls convent school dorm in the early hours of the morning....

Well said GFYS. Anyway, back to the topic on hand after much hyperbole I must admit I was a bit underwhelemd by Boswinga. I'm not saying Riera's not a good player because he clearly is, but the Chelsea man I thought came off distinctly second best against our bloke (who as a couple have mentioned is good in the air which is a bonus). On the other side, Ashley Cole continues to look like he's gone backwards to me, and although Mikel is developing apace as a footballer, they look to me like they have too many average players (Salaman Kalou for instance) to be considered title favourites. I remain convinced that if we don't win it, the Mancs will.

I agree about Mikel - I think one of the reasons Gerrard has struggled in recent seasons against Chelsea is because Makelele is just a master at 'that role'. I remember noting in past fixtures times when he has just stifled Gerrard's forward play and completely nullified him.

Gerrard put in a performance by operating in slightly different areas, and combined with the presence of Mikel in that holding position, managed to influence the game more than any time I can really remember against them away from home.

With three games in the next seven days I'd certainly expect some changes for the Portsmouth match. I'ts unfortunate as despite having beaten Chelsea and Man U our lack of quality in depth compared to those teams could be exposed during periods like this.

Definately mate - also doesnt help having injuries to players like Torres,Skittles, Degen and maybe keane. Dont think its as bad as in previous season as players like El Zhar who seemed to have stepped up . Its right back i think we may have a prob as arbeloa close to a suspension and only really got darby as cover . People say carra there but dont think he is suited there at all but maybe just for one game.

 ??
