Liverpoolfc.tv gives the MOM to Carraguer though. I Think that no MOM for Alonso this season so far, and even our fellow member toffeehater gave the MOM to Alonso today! :)

Carragher’s best game in a while, he was outstanding. He looked like an absolute master in there.

Definitely my man of the match.

This is the typical game I'm not able to say who's MoM.

I loved Alonso, Gerrard, Mascherano (yes, Mascherano), Riera and Carra a lot. Agger helped a lot aswell in a day in which the midfield was crowded.

I only was unhappy with Aurelio today.

Gerrard's position was very complex. A Good player in that position would only sniff a couple of balls, but Gerrard was able to do a lot of harm to them.

I thought Alonso had a fantastic game as well and my only disappointment was seeing that majectic freekick karum back off the post.  What a beautiful goal that would have been.

Overall, it's hard to find fault with any performances from the men in Red.  We had superb teamwork and togetherness out there today, with all the players working hard for each other and keeping their heads.  Hell, even Babel looked interested! :D

Actually, it was fantastic to see him show his frustration to Masch following that poor cross on the counter-attack.  Too often he's looked like he can't be a.rsed so I loved to see him get fired up.  :nod

I was so pleased with how we got at them and had some great tackles which broke up their moves and made them frustrated. It could have been even more effective but for the ref who blew up for a couple of fine tackles but we have to expect that i suppose and i hope we get that slight bias when they come to ours. Oh s.h.it i just remebered the dodgy pen they had last season at ours oh well. I feel so pleased and just hope the players believe they can do it. They must do. We have Gerrard, Torres, Alonso, Masha, Reira etc all world class and we should not fear anybody.

I forgot to mention that the victory was double, in the pitch, and in the stands.

I had the sound of the tv high, and most of the time I could hear loud and clear, dominating, fields of anfield road, rings of fire, and our lads' songs. It was massively loud in min 70 or so the Torres song, that must wind up the oppo fans a lot!

I'm so happy with the performance today. Mark Bright the twit on match of the day 2 claims we went there and sat with 11 men behind the ball. Its funny but I'm sure since Benitez took over we have lost 1-0 to chelsea and man utd frequently with them nicking a goal and sitting back even with their impressive attacking talents.

It seems that everyone not connected with anfield is intent on seeing us fail yet again but we have qualities that all other premiership teams lacks. Pride, passion, determination, unity, togetherness and a great team spirit. Money cant buy you these things, just look at Tottenham. As a realist its too early in the season to say whether we will win the league but I'm sure as hell we will be contesting over the coming months. We have to take it 1 step at a time and keep getting 3 points which is all that matters.

Every complaint opposing fans have about us keep getting blown away by our team. We are a 1 man team supposedly and cant beat the the other teams in the top 4. Just remember, it took Fergie 6 or 7 years to win the title and 4 or 5 years to win his 1st trophy. Benitez is already streets ahead and its only a matter of when not if our 19th league title would be awarded to us. We as fans have to keep backing our team and the results will be so rewarding. The fields of anfield road are alive. YNWA

Awesome performance today, superb result.  We were clearly the better team on the day and despite the lucky deflection we deserved the points on the balance of general play and chances created.

Carragher, Gerrard, Riera and Alonso were all absolute rocks today.  Really pleased Alonso is back to his best these days, and he is back to his very best by the way.  Riera gets more impressive by the week, his close control and ability to provide much needed width and keep possession was key today.  Gerrard showed some top class pieces of skill and Carragher kept things tight at the back.

Tactically Benitez got it right, keeping Bosingwa and Cole quiet by pushing our wide players on them worked and Chelsea (or Scolari for that matter) had no answers to it.

The best piece of play was the great sequence of passes midway through the second half where we broke at them down the left side, with Alonso playing a one-two off Gerrard and the move culminating in us slicing them apart only for Gerrard to slightly overhit the final through ball to Babel who was in on Cech.

This performance is THE closest Benitez's Liverpool has come to his 'Valencia model'.  Played like a machine, gave nothing away, squeezed the life out of them and punished them.  Bye bye unbeaten home record.  Bring on the next game, we move on.
